Charlotte's look is so timeless. You could put her at any point over the last 30 years and she wouldn't look (too) out of place. Great video as always!

I particularly enjoy when people create a classy aesthetic with thrift shopping. Elegant, affordable and sustainable. That I admire. Quality means you can wear your clothes for a long time and get creative with how you style it.

Yes but their personalities are different, Charlotte is bubbly, childlike and romantic, from what we see of Natasha she is more shy, demure and mature but kind.

When Carrie cheats with Big and accidentally runs into Charlotte, the confrontation scene shows that Charlotte was pretty upset. Mainly because she was getting married and viewed marriage as pretty sacred, but I wouldn't be surprised if the writers had Charlotte act so bothered by Carrie's affair because her and Natasha do have some similarities.

As a french-canadian, I was looking forward for some cues about confessionnal fashion. I'm glad I can finally better identify protestant fashion and translate this knowledge in an increased understanding of films and series, thanks to your video. I'll keep reading novels from protestants and catholics authors and learn about american history. As an atheist, it's appreciated to be able to situate the background and beliefs of who's speaking. Thanks a lot.

Charlotta is the prettiest of them all. I was not happy with the decision of movie-makers to marry her out to that fat bold guy. No, not because he was bold & fat, but because he immediately started taking her for granted, and was behaving like a jerk. She deserved a nice, kind & caring man, who would not force her to give up her religion in order to suit him better, and after her sacrifice just neglect her.

I disagree. He didn’t force her to give up anything. He told her he couldn’t marry anyone who wasn’t Jewish and she CHOSE to convert because she wanted to be with him. And I never ever saw him take her for granted. He was crazy about Charlotte. But she was definitely the prettiest, classiest, and most feminine of the group.

Charlotte's beauty and charm are downplayed in the show imo. I think the same for Monica Gellar and Blair Waldorf. Serena is shown as an it girl that any guy would die to date, same with Rachel or sometimes carrie/Samantha, although, in carrie and Sam's case, it's not as extreme and unrealistic.

Great video, but can we stop with the old money thing. The term when referring to Americans literally means people who came from or can trace their lineage back to settlers and planter families who can to America on ships and became wealthy from farming, slavery and the American revolution. I don’t think Charlotte is related to George Washington. Words like classic, chic, elegant, refined, etc.. are great and much better at describing this kind of style
@mtngrl5859 Жыл бұрын
In the USA, to be old money its having wealth for 3 generations compared to European which is typically at least 6 generations ( around 200 years more or less). Families like the Hearst family initially made their money through the mining industry in California and later the publishing industry. It is the 12th richest family in the USA with wealth of around 28 Billion. The Johnson and Johnson Family built their health care industry in the 1880's and is an incredibly wealth family. Most of the great wealth in the US was created from the 1870's forward, so the wealth was not created through enslaved peoples. As a side note of the 12 million enslaved people during the Slave Trade, only 500,000 of these came to the US or 4% of the total numbers of enslaved people during the Atlantic Slave Trade. The other 96% went to the Caribbean and South America- Brazil had the highest percentage. There are still countries in Africa that still sell human beings, so it is still going on. With the above, there were some very ruthless people and child labor existed until the early part of the 20th century. So, working conditions were harsh for many immigrants until the early part of the 20th century.
