For anyone curious Joey Lawrence did have a video and an album out. I think they did actually premiere it after an episode. The hit single was called "Nothing my love can't fix!" It's a fun colorful video. He does rap in it too with my favorite classic lyric, "Something something me and you , 'cause baby you been acting like I smell like a zoo!" LMFAO that is classic! This is the best Blossom skit.

Melanie mentioned on the Fly on the Wall podcast with Spade and Carvey that this was the one sketch that haunted her because it poked fun at a then teenage Mayim and she heard it bothered her. Melanie said years later she saw Mayim at an audition and apologized to her in tears, and Mayim responded with "You are released!" (something to that effect) and bore her no ill feelings.

I remember taping this skit on VCR when it aired and watched it over and over! 🤣This era of SNL was soo funny! I watched religiously in high school.

I'm sorry, but the nose is the funniest part about this.😅 I don't think it was meant to be "anti-Semitic", as the producer of the show happens to be a Jewish man. I think it's more that it's a very prominent feature of that particular actress and it made the parody way more funnier than it otherwise would have been

I can't believe SNL just took a clip of the Blossom opening scene and cut it into their skit. They are so lucky they didn't get sued for using copyrighted material 0:39 that they didn't even film. But I will say the actor they use as Blossom 1:23 looks so similar to Mayim Bialik in the opening skit 1:18. They could be sisters.

I don't remember Blossom being as uptight as Melanie Hutsell portrays her. Maybe it was a purposeful exaggeration.

Lol I just switched and looked back at old clips. I agree with you. But I was alittle surprised at how they had her act on the show. It was like 45 going 14!

Usually when they parody TV shows and such, they’ll play exaggerated versions of the characters or focus on one aspect of them. Wouldn’t be much fun if they played it straight up
