I just watched your video for the soup, the seasonings are very similar as far as msg, tamarind, bouillon, and herbs. Would that be to say they get served usually at the same meal? Because I do notice most of the time I've eaten Laos food there was always a soup, a main dish, and papaya with sticky rice. Just asking because my wife says she has been craving this Laos dish in particularly and I think I want to try and make it :)

pedro labitoria ... thanks for watching! There's a couple more versions I like the water snails prepared... I was craving this version and the soup version and couldn't decide which I wanted more, so I made both versions back to back! Hehe... traditionally a Lao meal will consist of some kind of soup because we don't let anything go to waste... for example if you made something with fish, the meat would be used to make a main course and the fish bones (fish heads, tails) would be made into a simple soup to accompany the main dish! :-)

There is nothing wrong with eating the snails that crawl out of the bush when it rains. I have eaten it since birth and still do.

I read that you can eat them but make sure it's from lawns that are not sprayed with pesticides... 😁

Its salt water winkles or peri winkles you get them from the sea i pick them and sell them here in the uk

Liam Stewart ... thanks for watching! Yes, these ones are from the sea! I stated that it's "water" snails mainly to not confuse those not familiar with types of snails to those that people see in crawling in their yards! :-)

I might just walk down to beach today and pick some off the rocks for eating tonight. Owls Head, Maine.

Thanks for the recipe but it would be well advised not to eat the brown tail as it’s the digestive track of the snail, and full of poop.
