Hey Group, Trying something different with ads throughout the vids, if you can stand it, resist that skip button... but understand if you don't ;). From foragers to garden warriors, I imagine that most would be pleasantly suprised at how good a well prepared snail can taste. For those of you curious, the eye dr appointment is tomorrow, hopefully all is well as it can be. Stable is what we are shooting for so that the summer surgeries have the greatest chances of success. Hope everyone is well. Thank you for the likes, I read every comment and special thanks to our Patreons for their monthly contributions that aid us in making this channel possible. 🐌 While hiking on the Appalachian Trail, I fried snails in butter after letting them evacuate themselves in a mesh bag that I dipped in water three times per day... 8 times total. A hiking Boy Scout Troop walked by me, the adults saying "Wow that smells delicious. Enough for us?" I said, "Yeah... If you like snails." 🐌 Their immediate response, "No, we'll pass..." Made me laugh out loud. I added the snails to linguine noodles with salt and pepper... And got VERY FULL. Snails are DELICIOUS.

Another excellent video Bob. In the part of the UK where I am we call snails "wallfish! We purge them for about 5 days and they get fed on lettuce or oats. Seems to rid them of most bad things. Once boiled we shell them the same as small sea snails "periwinkles" or "winkles" for short. We take a needle or cocktail stick, push it into the foot and twist them out. less broken bits of shell that way! Then cook again in whatever way you want. Soaked in garlic butter & a sprinkle of black pepper is my favourite way.

My dorm mates used to pick buckets of them off an abandoned tennis court on campus and cook them up with garlic, butter, and herbes de Provence (thyme, rosemary, basil, and oregano, which are weeds there.) Throw in a good red wine, you got a nice Friday evening. Thanks for the great video!

Bob : let's look for some snails to eat Snails : it's that dude run for your lives
@seankenneally34832 жыл бұрын
I think if this guy is incredible. The simplicity in his instructions and cautiousness in which he prepares might keep somebody from starving someday. I had no idea that if you were to eat a roast meal you could die until today. Not that I was about to do it but I just didn't know and I've been cooking for a long time. So thank you for this video. Go Texas!

idk what it is but this guys great to watch. Makes me want to survive in the wild! Have to say though, if I went out foraging I would always bring some salt with me. Everything's better with a little salt!

These brown garden snails are delicious with some salt and vinegar. My grandad used to cook them (boiled and then fried).

Gross. Did you guys also eat crickets???
@kaba_me5 жыл бұрын
@@TheRealDirtySkillz I don't know about crickets but snails are tasty. I'd guess crickets will not be much different than shrimps, which are like insects of the sea.

I went to a restaurant this past summer and they had escargot on the menu as an appetizer. It was like $10.99 or something like that. Went ahead and ordered it. Was disappointed that there were only FOUR friggin snails on the plate. Never again. I'm foraging my snails from now on and that don't cost me anything.
@VirgilHiggins-ju9ey5 жыл бұрын
sgtjarhead99 you got ripped off minimum 6 normal 12 at that price. Canned snails are soon times found in gourmet section of major super markets and sometimes in a wine shop that sell cheese and such also. You might also try canned conch shell sauteed in butter and garlic, also good. Another source is internet .

My suggestion for humanitarianism;. Get 'em drunk before you kill 'em. Maybe beer would do it. Thanks for the tutorial. I've loved escargot in restaurants and I've spent a lot of time in snail country in California and I always wanted to know how to prepare them. Thanks to you, now I know. Now I can go out on a good snail safari.

@jupekai46015 жыл бұрын
I breed and raise my own snails for food and I dispatch them the same way, straight into a hot oven or boiling water - or a fire or BBQ, any other way takes too long for them to die and they suffer needlessly.
