There is nothing more beautiful to me that a man of his age having this spontaneous, joyful energy & not being scared of showing attention or & affection to make people feel comfortable. Don't know much about Bill but the few clips i've seen makes me think he's a awesome human being on top of rly amasing athlete :)

Wow what a guy, a phenomenal seminar and fantastic stretching routine. His theory around the side on stance is spot on and was a real eye opener as to why Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson is so effective.
@killersalmon43596 жыл бұрын
The side on stance was used in WWII in the hand-to-hand combat method taught to the FSFF (mixed Canadian-US commando unit). They called it "kick and poke Judo". The stance makes sense in certain contexts.

Wondering about kicking from a horse stance. In the 1970 we used a low check kick to jam opponents kicks. (Essentially a controlled low side kick to the thigh or above the knee.) A lot of speed kickers worked from a more narrow upright side position (like savate chasse bas). I also notice two unique things Wallace does: stamp before kicking and kicking when the feet close together.

34:45 : This is so much Bruce Lee's spirit (like against Chuck Norris). 1) Rapid punches, in rhythm. 2) Repeat on a specific spot, to induce prevision in opponent's mind. 3) Break the third (or more) occurence with a hit in the opened area.

hello jake mace, first I want to say that i'm a big fan of ur channel and i love your martial arts, diet food, and vlog videos. They're very inspiring, educational, and informative. I want to be a martial artist, so i have a few questions for you. 1. if you went to college, what courses did you take? 2. Where did you learn martial art? 3. Im thinking of making a vegetable and fruit garden, what suggestions do you recommend? 4. Has it always been a struggle for you to wake up early in the morning for a morning workout? 5. Would it be possible if i could go to your establishment, meet you, and train there with you, so I can improve and better my understanding of martial arts? If you ever see this then, Thank you for reading and i hope my questions weren't to difficult. I hope i get to see more of your videos later to come. have a great day and there's a quote I always love saying when I practice and train for martial arts: go beyond plus ultra. p.s did u ever get to talk to michael jai white?

He goes back to those guys in the sixties, Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis. They went from point fighting to full contact.
@ransomedavis2208 Жыл бұрын
joe did but chuck didnt chuck stayed in point stop karate. both joe and bill wallace felt they were simply going through the motions with karate and wanted more of a challenge. if i recall joe fought in the very 1st sanctioned kickboxing much under the pka. this came about after joe got talking to bruce lee about combining boxing with karate, because lee didnt rate point stop karate calling it a complete waste of energy. there views combined and together the concept of kickboxing was born so bruce lere had a hand in bringing kickboxing to the world. along with with mixing martial arts together in what in now termed mma, i dont know if bill ever met bruce ?

Look at the guy in the white t-shirt during the warm-up at the 2:36 mark. When they're doing big circles with the arms to loosen up the shoulders, this guy makes very small circles. I'm not trying to disrespect him, I write this since it is valuable to think about mobility vs bulk. He looks like he spends quite a bit of time getting puffed up muscles (I was there in my youth, too), but it is essentially useless unless all you want to do is heave around heavy weights in a gym.

i like this, but i boxed and if you stand sideways you need to be hyper aware of guys that are sophisticated enough or just land a lucky shot to the kidneys. ive seen guys get crushed with kidney shots when guys are standing sideways.

Miki Miyazaki if ppl in a street fight are aiming for your groin, better to get hit in the kidneys than the groin.
@mikimiyazaki7 жыл бұрын
Ander Scorpio true, but that depends on the distance. if a guy is sideways on the outside then hed be ok, but inside it'd be dangerous
@tomg29462 жыл бұрын
Both front on and side on stances are useable in boxing, maybe slight angle on side stance (bladed). Look at Archie Moore, Floyd Mayweather Jr, for 'side' on stances using philly shell type defense. Orthodox stance uses different style of defense. To some extent the rear straight is compromised in the side stance. But in kick boxing it really does free up the lead leg, like the way Wallace uses it. Most fighters these days just dont develop their lead leg kicking skill anywhere near the way Wallace nor others of that era did.
