The mom is killing it behind the camera. How is she making this baby laugh AND focused? Rock on madam

It’s so important to have at least the basic first aid knowledge to know what to do in situations like this. I know from personal experience that having someone who knows how to help you when you’re choking is a genuine lifesaver ❤

Former nanny/babysitter for a family with five kids all 18 months apart (they had a daughter followed by fraternal quadruplets, three girls and a boy) thankfully I never needed to utilize the Heimlich maneuver or CPR on any of them, but I did have to make one of them raise their arms while I tapped them on the back to help them dislodge a crum of food they accidentally got caught in the back of their throat so I was grateful that I had taken CPR and Heimlich maneuver training just in case. Their parents may have been doctors but that meant nothing when they were at work and I was the only one home, great video!

Thank you for this video, Dr. Gill. It may save some lives! As a parent of a 3 year old boy, I agree that the most triggering sound is silence... 😉

My almost 6 month old is on purees right now, so having this information is hugely helpful as we prepare for the future of solids!

From what I heard, it's very important to have a footrest in the highchair - baby is more stable this way, it's more comfortable and reduces risk of choking.

The lil' fella Is having a good Time! Anyway. I think it's Great to know things like these. You never know when will they come handy. It's always a good idea to be prepared. By the way; How do you know what is the right amount of force that Is needed for the back blows, obviously you don't want to cause further damage. Thank you

Well that was just too adorable to be allowed. You are suspended from KZbin until the child becomes older and crankier :)

My foster son is 11 months and ever since he started eating bigger pieces of food, I've been nervous about choking. This is super helpful! He was eating some cooked carrots the other day and when I changed his diaper (BM), there was a full undigested piece of carrot. Is that normal?

I've had to do back blows. That was a scary 20 seconds! All fine though except he got caught in his high chair somehow so I held him upside down with his legs still caught in the chair.

Beautiful kiddo 😊 Is the technique the same as kids get older, just with them standing/leaning like an adult at some point?
