4:12 Important note when syncing up multiple clips, for example multiple cameras for an interview: It always syncs to the clip selected first. So if for example a camera needed a battery swap and thus you have 2 clips from that cam, when selecting the audio first and the cameras second, the sync will arrange both clips of that camera to the audio. If you select the first clip of that camera first, the audio and other cameras are synced, but the second clip of that camera cannot be synced, as there is no matching audio. Had to figure this out a while ago.

The more I watch your channel and learn about Resolve the more I’m tempted to give it another try 😁! Question: I have a MacBook Air M3 (16gb 512gb ssd) and use FCP. Will running resolve possibly slow down my computer? With FCP I work off of an external hard drive, can I do the same with resolve? I would love to learn the program and all that it can do!! 😊
@JasonYadlovski2 ай бұрын
Glad my videos have been helpful for you! Resolve shouldn't slow down your computer. I'd start with the free version so you can try it out, but keep in mind that the studio version will run better and smoother because it will use the GPU. There are always things you can do to speed up the program too if you need. I've got videos on that to help. Yes, you can work off an external drive with Resolve. I do that and I use a samsung T7 SSD, 2 TB drive. It works great. You media files can be stored anywhere you'd like, Resolve just references them. You'd want to keep the project library (Database) on your internal drive for the best performance. The database/project library doesn't get very big, so no need to worry about clogging up the computer hard drive.

Resolve doesn't automatically set project to resolution of clip you bring in, only sets matching frame rate. That catches me all the time, as other editors auto set frame rate and resolution

I've never used Resolve or any video editing software. Is it possible to have a clip that has both 4K 30p and 1080p at 60 fps, and have DaVinci automatically increase the 30p (fps?) to 60 fps and the 1080p to 4K? If it is capable of doing that, does the software require a particularly "powerful" computer?
@yeetbra94852 ай бұрын
@@SeekerNJWCNot possible, otherwise no one would bother recording in 4k if you could just bump 1080p up to 4k later in post. There is an upscale tool but it isn't going to look nearly as good as genuine 4k. Same goes for frame rate you can't increase frame rate later only lower it

Do you trust the auto audio leveller features for serious projects? Or can it potentially cause unwanted gain. First jump into Fairlight. Select all your clips in the media pool, then hold ctrl (cmd on Mac) and drag them into the timeline in Fairlight. Since you're holding Ctrl (or cmd) it will put each audio clip on it's own track.

Tip 1: Only the frame rate is adjusted, not the resolution. Wrong advice! Auto Colors: Waste of time. No one should ever use that. You shour know that if you ever graded a clip. Very bad advice! White Balance: Your example just shows, how NOT to do it. Look at the colors after the "magic" white balance on your shirt. Misleading advice. Automatic color management: Without explaining what it really does and how this is working depending on the color space of the footage, this is useless. Misleading advice. Most of your magic tips are just the regular workflows, nothing special. Some advice is misleading/bad, one even wrong. Common mate, you can do better.
