I must be getting older. My desire to make my bikes louder is diminishing. The first mod I used to my bikes is to change the exhaust. But... in saying that. The V strom does have a good note. The looks and weight saving are a bonus. I have a Gixer muffler sitting on the shelf waiting to go on my DR650. It will supposedly remove two thirds of the weight (from original muffler), gain some horsepower and be a little smaller. But the mighty DR doesn't have a note that makes the hairs on my neck stand up. And at the present moment no one hears me coming. Now part of me thinks this is a good thing. But can also be startling for other road and trail users.

@NunyaBusiness...7 ай бұрын
I can't speak for other parts of the world, but in The States that's not how it works. There are protections to keep manufacturers from being predatory in their warranty denials. To deny a claim because of a modification they have to be able to reasonably show that the mod caused the problem. Think of your warranty as similar to insurance. It's not cancelled just because you do something silly, but they might deny a claim if they can show the mod was the cause. For example, if you were to put this exhaust on and say your electronics were to crap out on you, they have to honor the warranty on the electronics because there is no reasonably way that the exhaust swap caused the failure. On the flipside, if you do this swap and get the bike flashed and your engine implodes, they'd have a case to deny a claim because changing the way the engine operates could cause engine failure. Most bike warranties are short enough that it doesn't really matter anyway. Mod away because the odds of you having an issue while in the short warranty period are pretty slim.
