Why do you do so many things when other videos show removing the battery just after removing the screen?
@josepheichinger93674 жыл бұрын
there's a loop around the screw hole for the battery tab, other people just wrench the board up to get the loop out, this would be the "safe" way to get to that loop.

Apple sure never wanted customers to replace the battery. But this is an excellent detailed video of how to replace the battery. The Amazon replacement came with lots of tools but no instructions. I did have trouble starting to lift one corner of the glass, so cut away some of the metal case near the earphone Jack to get a start at it...then with extra heating had no problem going around the edge. I was concerned about the sheer number of connections and taped down components that were to be removed, so I looked for alternatives. I found that after I removed the first shield over the display connector, and the one screw directly over the battery connection to the main board, I was able to take a significant shortcut! I determined that if I headed from the back side, I could carefully lift the old battery from the back, so it was only captive by the small connector. By carefully heating and lifting the main board near the battery connector, I was able to lift the main PCB

Will the heat from hsir dryer damage the screen
@terryschmidt78503 жыл бұрын
I was able to lift the main PCB at the battery connector and lift the battery connector up and off of the tiny stand-off holding it secure. I then slid the new battery connector in place and took my shims out to seat the main PCB in this area. After reinserting the connector screw to secure the battery connector, and slipping 4 strips of double sided tape to hold the battery, I replaced the display connector shield and with the surround tape cutouts in place, re sealed the glass display with some heat, and presto, the job was done without disconnecting any connectors other than the battery connector. Sorry for the two part comment...accidentally sent the comment below before it’s time. Thanks again for a great video, couldn’t have done it successfully otherwise.

I had a 10th gen iPad kzbin.infoUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.

Okay so one thing I am going to point out, you obviously prepared that iPad prior to disassembly. Which is very misleading to those who may be trying this for the first time. Misleading in the sense that you do not use a metal pry-tool on the battery because if you puncture cells it can explode. Misleading in the sense that the effort required to actually remove the glass is actually significantly hard than what this person did. It is a good video for the most part, but if you are going to do a tutorial it needs to show all the hardships involved. Leaving out the challenge involved misleads first timers into thinking that this is an easy repair.

This is the 3rd video about replacing the A1567 iPad Air 2‘s battery, and it was the most complicated one. On the other hand, it showed me that it also can be opened using a regular hair dryer instead of a heating pan. So when I take all the simple things of those 3 videos together, ir seems to be quite easy to do the job myself successfully!

PLease I'm traying to change both cells dryed for another two new. Is very confused the (+ and -) mark on the original battery. From top the battery have ( + -) marks, but from the bottom are inverted... I need to know the + , - polarity of the power connector. The positive is on the camera's side and the negative is on the charging port conector's side? I think in the top label the polarity indicated matches with the conector's polarity, and from under the battery the polarity marks refers to the cells, is it correct?

OK ! this is official...you do not need to take anything apart like in this video...and maybe .you do not need to disco the ribbon cable for the screen...while the screen is standing upright ..slip your thingys under the old battery and lift it all up...then slide a insulated piece of whatever in under the plate that was undone by removing the battery clip holddown screw and just ease the whole unit up a bit..the battery then slides out and since the separation tool is still under..then take battery away...now put new one into that slot and whole new battery is still standing up..screw down that cover that you took off...now that battery connector is locked down...take the tool out and place battery down into place with sticky parts ready to do their thing...now you may not have to even remove the screen cables cover as they may be not screwed into the case underneath like the battery one..just try it..its amazing...only minutes

Hi, is it also possible to glue the screen to the body? for example with t7000 adhesive or is it not necessary? Thanks
@markcoveryourassets4 жыл бұрын
Al J , I had a Samsung 5 phone where the screen cracked due to overheating and expansion of the battery... because the device was in the case. Heat kills batteries, so I'm operating with no cases now. I paid some good money to replace the screen only to have it start to unglue from a corner. Didn't have warranty on the repair any longer, so I did use some superglue. Left some crusty stuff like superglue does but it has held. I'd recommend a more gummy kind of glue and set it with clamps. And my decision was based on my intention to replace the phone rather than replace the screen if it failed again, hence the cheap fix. If your question is specific to the iPad, my apologies.

Do me a favor, anyone who is watching this, get a solvent like 50/50 acetone and 90%+ IPA, get a pry card and use that to get the adhesive off of the back of the battery, using a metal prytool is a surefire way to cause an actual fire from puncturing the battery.

pczarn I agree they definitely go very out of their way to engineer it so it is murder to replace. Why? Because then you buy a new one, and they make a ton more money. I personally do replacements on phones, but I doubt I’ll risk it for my iPad. I will get a company to do it for a little money. I personally asked an Apple employee and they said they don’t do batter replacements. Their attitude is just buy a new one. Yeah, money is no object of course. It’s a dilemma because, let’s face it, their products are phenomenal. But I guess the only way they stay that way is by raping everyone. :( If I could accomplish my needs as fluidly and amazingly well on a non-Apple tablet I think I would have a go at it. But these days they’re almost as expensive but not nearly as good. :(

With all the money Apple spends on R&D this is the best they can do for battery replacement? Laughable. Android should eat them alive. The magic is over...and I do love the simplicity of the iPad. But Android has left Apple in the dust long ago. The iCloud tracking feature is useless compared to "Where's my Android" and Google Home connectivity. Where is all that money going Apple? Funny how they became what they accused Microsoft of being all those years ago.

Pretty easy to copy stuff and run with it. Funny how if it wasn't for Apple, Android wouldn't have anything to reverse engineer and try to make better. Just about every single decent tech device on the planet has started because Apple released it to market first ... if anyone else could innovate that would be nice. Im still waiting. DOS vs Mac.. Windows were born to catch up. iMac - processor built-in to the screen - unheard of! iPod - iPhone - iPad - Apple Watch - I mean seriously. Before Apple released each and every one of these there was not a SINGLE decent Android device that even came close. Apple have to invent it before everyone else jumps on board - no-one else even had an App Store before Apple.. the list is endless. They're responsible for more millionaires that have made their riches via Apps on both platforms than any other Compnay.. very easy to play second fiddle... still waiting on something that is innovative and new that Apple can copy... oh, hang on.. I guess the second button on the mouse, Okay I'll give you that. Apple tried to pretend it wasn't a must for too long then invented the Magic Mouse which was when released again was another first.. nuff said.,

@Hudda Rudda Generally ideas can't be copyrighted. Apple stole from Xerox and evolution continues. The problem with Apple (I speak only for myself) isn't their product, it's their greed and culture. They make enough profit margin to produce their superior products in the USA, but rely on questionable Chinese work conditions. They slow down older products, because they are arguably either greedy or addicted to cash. Saddest thing is, they've become what they, in the beginning accused Microsoft of being. I was an original Apple fan, I left when their products became too costly for me. It seems they are profit driven more these days. Steve Jobs wanted to put elegant computing into the world. He did that...now they are focused on maximizing profits and keeping their products exclusive to those with deeper wallets. I use them now however and I'm largely indifferent to platform.
