Wonderful video! Savestate vs Armada was one of those truly unbelievable moments in Melee history, and this did a great job setting it up, explaining it, and making a meaningful point out of it. Also, it’s amazing how even after a decade of competing, there are still things for Armada to say “that’s actually never happened to me before” about.
@btf_flotsam4784 жыл бұрын
'I had 3 "Never Happened Before" moments during my run alone, but it's a common occurrence in a lot of marathons really' - u/MrShasta, describing his run at GDQ and the propensity to produce those kinds of occurrences. (I think it says it all that there's a specific quote/meme for just that circumstance, really.)
@jongyon7192p4 жыл бұрын
Specifically in a tournament tho. So i imagine he might've had it on purpose or accidentally in casual play.
@SSB_Seal4 жыл бұрын
@@jongyon7192p Possibly, but considering it’s only doable on a version of Melee that was not sold in Europe, the chances seem very slim it could have ever happened to him by accident in casual play. Maybe he could have done it intentionally/for fun while using a hacked Wii/Dolphin after it got figured out, but yeah.

This glitch occurred on the first stock of my first melee tournament set. Since then I've never seen it happen again. Unlike armada and savestate, we decided to restart the game since we were only about 20 sec in or so. Bizarre little glitch.

Honestly, seeing a moment in a tournanent where both players truly enjoyed themselves, even if the outcome was a winner and a loser in this match, is probably one of the nicest things in competitive gaming. No salt, just sugar and silliness. Sharing a story from myself, taking fighting games too seriously had once destroyed what I loved. Even the most competitive of games need moments of silly or stand-out, funny things, and ever since that day I decided not to take fighting games as serious as I used to, I've had a lot more fun, even if I lose due to some dumb, ballsy attempt at something incredibly stupid. What I'm trying to say, to add to this video, is enjoy yourself, play without a care in some way. A stupid match or dumb joke every once in a while can sow your love for something deeper.
