how many times do you overplate before you just start cutting plates off . Topside paint is great looking too.

If the overplating is done correctly with shot Blasting and two pack epoxy blacking there shouldn’t be any need to overplate again

I would have thought that using weld to fill pits would clean and dry the pit.

It depends on how deep the pits are. The best way is to shot blast the hull and spray a two pack epoxy blacking. This way the pits do not get any worse.

I used three tins of epoxy on my hull, would that not tell you the thickness of the coating?

No, you would need a paint thickness meter to measure the thickness of the epoxy on the hull. Depending on the size of your boat is whether 3 tins (5 litre tins) is sufficient paint. Thanks for watching 😊

How does the bottom of the boat get inspected and treated?

To inspect the base plate or the hull sides of a hull the boat needs to be craned onto either a slipway, dry dock or craned out. Depending on the condition of the steel as to how it is then treated.
