Yeah, inflation be hitting hard! I got lucky with the hub I got it for $60 at my local junkyard. Most of my subscribers are from other car videos, but I'm grateful for everyone who appreciates my videos and stops by and leave a comment. Have a great day!

Thank you so much for your support! Yea, owning a Jaguar comes with its fair share of challenges, but I gotta a lot of love for them. Can't give up on my Jag!

Hi, the nut (NT610041J) has to be torqued to a specific torque and not like you did it Jesse with an impact gun. You will probably burn the new bearings. You have to use hand tools on these old Jags. Once the nut is torgued, you have to move the hub few times in both directions and after that you have to undo the nut. Repeate once or twice. The last step is to install the nut back, but this time only by hand (no tools!!!). Once you make it as tight as possible with you fingers, check for any excesive play in the hub rotation. If none is present put the nut locker and the pin back. Now the bearings are not too loose to wobble and not the tight to burn and damage them.

Jesse, thank's for making this video. I know it makes the job quite a bit harder if you have to explain everything as you do it.
@XJJesse9 ай бұрын
You're right! explaining each step and adjusting the camera does add time to the process, but it's worth it if it helps others learn and understand better. Thanks for understanding 😊

So, if the wheel bearing starts to show wear on these, you only have a few miles before you really get into trouble? I need to change on my two ones this year, as they are just slightly getting there, no noise or sound, just a little bit to loose. Front on both. (XJR and Daimler Six).

Good stuff. I just had my windshield replaced for under $300. Looks like you could use one too. Mine was only two inches but had the crack right in my line of sight.

love your videos Jesse. I wonder if, in your experience, these XJs are prone to failure, or is it just a regular case of any 30-40 year old car?
@davebudd14299 ай бұрын
I just saw that you have another video all about that. My new one is a 1991.
@alexandrecouture24629 ай бұрын
In the case of this kind of wheel bearing, it was kind of standard on so many older cars, along with trailers and pickups. It can happen.

Dave as a Jaguar owner of two Jaguars X300s like Jessie, the issue by now if these cars are driven daily , like me in my case is that the bearings are by now 30 years old ( if the cars was made in 1994), so it is normal for the grease inside to melt with time and gets dirty and damage the bearing. I have to replace my rear right axel hub as the bearing is already making a noise too, The car is at 170,000.00 miles. My other daily driver Jag is at 95,000.00 miles, so I will also preventatively open all 4 hubs and re-grease them with fresh grease to save the bearings. The original ones if I recall correctly are Timkens.

How to take off rear hub stud on x300? One of mines is damaged 😐
@robertsavello41209 ай бұрын
are the rear bearing similar? I need to do the right side rear but I haven't yet as it's cold and winter sucks. Weather's getting warmer finally and it's a job I gotta deal with sooner rather than later. Haven't find much documentation about it online anywhere. For my subaru I have a factory service manual, but i've not found a good one for the Jag yet.
