My 96 X300 the door locks haven’t worked in years , thanks to you, I know i have to buy a security module to fix my problem

Jessie if you read this comment, the issue is in the door lock mechanism (door latch actuator- passenger side)- replace all 4 actuators on all 4 doors preventatively from a 1997 up to 2001 (yes they can fit as late as a 2001 Xj8 model range). I replaced on both of my X300s both 1995 all lock actuators- they fail as by now these mechanisms are 30 years old by now- signs- car tries to lock but the doors stay either locked or unlocked position one side or the other side, also dome light tend to flicker on/off if you open the door-passenger or driver side. The security module in the trunk may fail, but very rare. If you change it no need to re-program- it is already factory programed - just make sure you get it from the same year, same model. (note: In the meantime, if you still worry about break in- open the door covers on passenger side and simply disconnect both actuators, but manually lock the doors from the inside-) The car will still drive and gear selector will engage as you know it works in conjunction with the door locks- you hear a click when pressing the brake pedal).

Love the content, don't know much about aftermarket alarms, just know they're a pain, you could contact Viper support, they might be able to help.

Hello 👋 Jesse I know you will get it sorted my 99 vanden plas does the same thing and I found out that some of the door locking mechanism inside the door panels was stuck or barely worked by hand and I sprayed them with wd-40 and I got it working

Good luck, brother-man! I hope you figure it out for your Mom!

Thanks, brother! I hope so too, but I’m happy that at least she can have the doors locked now. Appreciate the support!

Hey Jesse I'm visiting Texas over Christmas, where could I find an XJ40 breaking for spare parts there? I need the joining piece between the radiator cradle and the bumper, as mine is rusted out. Thanks

Since you switched the module, perhaps unplug and replug battery? Does the lock button inside work now? Can she perhaps lock doors that way?

Never give up, you'll find a solution for sure! Electric door lock are never 100% reliable on my XJ40. I always have to check if all 4 doors lock button go down and often, I got to go lock one manually. British stuff! 😊

Right on for the encouragement! I’ll keep everyone updated, hoping it helps other Jaguar owners going through the same.

Are you going to make a video of the inside of the module, and take it to a repair place, they may charge $20 to solder the broken component back on. Open it up on a big clean kitchen table so you can grab all the parts, try putting the fixed original back on and see if it fixes the problem.

I can tell you 99% probability is that you have a faulty door actuator. If one goes it buggers up the central locking. You just need to find out which door actuator has gone 👍

Passenger front.

I was thinking the same thing but my sister’s Jaguar has a faulty passenger door actuator, and the car still locks the other three doors. video on that is next!

@@XJJesse when mine went, it wouldn’t lock. The locks would keep going up and down, but it would lock with the key manually, if I remember correctly.

Hey, I’ve reached out to you on Insta DM’s a couple months ago, about my 1997 Xj6 jag and some issues I’ve been having with it, do you know how to fix the windshield wipers, everywhere I’ve looked hasn’t helped. The D setting still works and the spray and wipe, while the settings 1 and 2 don’t along with the single wiper function.

Jessie you're a "Shade Tree Mechanic" NOT a Hood Mechanic, hood only if you take parts off someones daily driver. I think you own the parts cars or have a reputable source, abandoned cars, etc.
