Looks like your doing a great job there John. I've done plenty of this back in the 80s when most cars were proper rot boxes. I couldn't get used to stick welding so I got a mig welder wire fed. Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing it completed. All the best for 2023.👍

hi mate, i use 1200 grade lining paper for templates, 1 roll last for donkeys, great vlog

I got a 1998 (1st gen) 1.8 16v Ghia 4 door, a bit more solid that your one though. Plan to rust treat and protect the arches when the warmer weather gets in, so your videos have been helpful pal. Whoever thought carpet would make a good arch protector should have smoked a little less that day! These motors are a decent but watch the crankcase breather valves on them, and the hose coming off them. My hose collapsed, the previous owner didn't realise and so the valve clogged up. This blew out the sump gasket which is a dog of a job to sort out! Enjoy the sub!

Thank you for the help advice I do really appreciate it. The pipe has been upgraded to silicon hose already so one less job to do, I was planning on doing a full video on the arch repair. I have only patched them for now to get for an MOT that’s when I buy a new meg welder I will cut out the arches and replace the metal

Have you tried mig?, I find it better than stick for panel work.
