Dan, I'm not trying to be a wisenheimer I love your videos really gets interesting. I have a suggestion for you that may help you out. Eastwood the company that sells tools and supplies for doing body work has a set of offset vice grip type pliers that will really help you when you want to put a panel in like you are doing on the Chevrolet truck. It'll make it a lot easier for you to offset the metal on the cab and offset the metal on the patch panel make them fit mig weld them together. Just makes your job a lot easier I just thought I would tell you about that I know you don't Proclaim to be a body man but you do pretty good for what you've been doing I just been doing this well I laid my first body workout when I was 14 and I'm 62 now but yes I love you and your girlfriend's videos you guys rock:-)

That color looks very similar to our "Army" green or also known as olive drab (OD) green. Farm store probably has a camouflage green that would work as well. Oh, and excited that you bought another hot rod! Guarantees us future content. Keep on keepin on!

You're exactly right Add a little oil to places where you can't get good paint coverage and it does not rust My grandfather taught me that trick years ago My grandpa used to take Old rags and old used motor oil In the trunks of the car soak the rag down and stick them in alongside the quarter panel where they would rust his and never did rus

Dont forget to seal both sides of the wood! if you dont the wood will cup and split! I am doing a complete chassis swap on my 48 Chevy longbed which includes putting new wood in the bed! Keep up the good work!

Smart leaving a drain hole and the paint inside. Wire wheel the frame , Rustoleum 3-1 acetone , goes lots further than all the rattle cans . Of course you know that from the 57 convertible. Blue tarp the floor

Dan I think from what I have seen that the cab corner you completed iis one of your best jobs I think with a light skim of bondow I don't think it would be noticed as not being original, extremely well done, I'm curious though would it be better for protection on the bare metal, to use at least some weld through primer before welding the hard to get areas? Very creative on the passenger crowling corner, as they say if at first it doesn't fit, use a bigger hammer! Please give it a spruce up with a paint job, I admire the rat rod looks, but sometimes a vehicle needs something more. Tony from Rural Western Australia 🇦🇺🦘

Your cowl drains at that point in the lower firewall. Normally has a small drain hole. Leave a bigger opening so all the crap can drain. Did that on my58 truck. Saves the lower hinge box. LEAVE THAT BOTTOM OPEN.

Make sure you seal the bed wood all around and two or three coats as it will cup and split if you don’t. You’re in Canada, and don’t leave the wood out in the snow. It will ruin it.

Dan you might want try a tig rig. You can turn the heat low and better welds and definitely faster. One draw back is the gas cost more. You might want check it out and see if you like it

You a sand blaster Dan…I think a quick blast on the frame and underneath makes a build from a 4 to a solid 7 for very little extra time and money plus the body welding is so much easier

For your 18g sheet metal what ball park voltage, IPM, gas settings do you use? you seem to get good penetration without a lot of burn thru. Also what is your helmet setting? You get a lot of trash tru the cowl vent ahead of the windshield and it washes down to lower hinge area . Bigger opening allows leaves & crud to not collect and is hid by fender.
