I'm gonna take a wild guess and say he poured all his resources into a Jihad in the East, pissed off a load of christian states as he headed there, didn't factor in Spanish or Portuguese aggression, (as they have all the Moorish territory in Iberia), and then ran into the Timurids. That's if this hasn't been deliberately sabotaged

Tavi Much better than during Ukranian rule, thanks to all the money Moscow pours into Crimea. I went to Yalta yesterday and the city is booming. Roads became much better. Overall, things got better, there are drawbacks and tough spots due to sanctions/corruption/mismanagement, but overall the people are happy

Hey legend, what you said about generals, in you don't consider the cost, because they are always worth it... It got me thinking about balance in that. Wouldn't it be better if they charged some 500 for infantry generals, and 1k for cav bodyguards; with the better ones maybe even twice that? It would make sense, the wealth of nobles; but more importantly to me, it would make the idea of choosing not to spam excessive amounts of them to gamify it, and force more unit diversity, which is nice. And make you actually choose most times about accepting a new general promotion (which 98% of the time, you do).

This is why i play ss6.4 , generals are really risky business ,even having marriages are problematic due to the cost of the kids turning of age and being a massive burden on the Treasury , total war vanilla is a peace of piss to play not even worth the time ,who ever did this campaign is a f****** idiot, (no offence) download ss6.4 my friend and set all setting to the hardest level , on all setups campaigns , now that's a real challenge.

Vanilla Medieval 2 is insane. As soon as you get your faction going, everyone declares war. I recently installed it again, as it's my favorite Total War title, playing as England (classic turtling faction) and being at war with Spain, France, Milan, HRE, Denmark as soon as you are done with Scotland is pretty casual stuff. It's tough and all, but how the fuck does someone get in so much shit as the Moors here lmao

That starting position reminds me of a car crash of a game I had in Rome 2. Literally one of my first games so I didn’t fully understand the diplomacy and politics of the game and I’d bought the DLC so I could play as Sparta. Bottom line, the last settlement I owned was the most southern you could get in Aithiops (below Egypt) guarded by my last army of 4 severely shagged units.

2 hit points on a general makes a difference. Playing third age 3.2 with dac 3.7 my dwarven generals can walk through hordes of goblins but cost twice as much. Makes cavalry less dominant.

I've got a modded TWW2 save that is mad. I'd take a guess and say no but do you do modded campaigns? I've got a half decent bit of land and 2 armies but 4 max tier high elf armies and right on my boarder and everytime I try to beat them with my tier 1 dwarf armies they just rek them. Even defensives sieges they smash straight through. All sword master of hoeth, dragon princes and dragons against dwarf warriors

It is mind boggling how a campaign can be fucked up like this one. It's likely that more than one crusade has been called against him, which could explain how he lost North Africa and Iberia. Unless this is a deliberate fuck-up, however, I feel like the benefit of the doubt should favor the honest disaster simply because it's interesting to watch.

Well i got something like that too, can't call that a disaster because it was planned before i began my campaign, Byzantine empire with two provinces on north african coast and capital in Cordoba(looks almost like Moorish starting provinces), sold Constantinople to Papal States, just to unleash a bit of chaos hopefully(or keeping turkish expansion at bay, who knows). (It's around 30th turn into the game) Anyone interested in that savegame, go ahead and text me.

I don't get why the king with 70 bodyguards in bucharest didn't attack at all. But still it was an interesting scenario. Kudos to whomever fantasized this. I really expect a medieval era total war game with better AI and graphics and a more detailed Islamic world :) or maybe an expansion focusing on the middle east but more on muslims rather than crusaders. The territory that was conquered was more or less Romania. Perfect place to begin campaigns across the entire map : close to Constantinople, gateway to Western and Eastern Europe, good sea access, mountainous terrain combined with plains.

Okay, this game is still better than the newer titles but honestly speaking we can all agree it was a huge downgrade from the Rome 1. We all praised Medieval 2 and favored it over Rome 2 because of the immersion but the game itself is really lacking. Units are not responsive at all, mechanics are laggy, balance is really questionable (almost to the point it resembles fantasy without magic). Certain game situations may be insanely nerve racking no matter the circumstances. This game hugely favors strategy over tactics. You can still win unfavorable battles using micro but it’s like ten times harder than it used to be in Rome 1. The cavalry charge with swords instead of lances. Your two handed units run and stop right before the enemy’s face rather than charge. The archers go full indirect fire when they don’t need that at all. Dismounted knights fighting mounted knights may either tear the cavalry unit apart within few seconds or just take hit after hit and get slaughtered like pigs without any single sword thrust at enemies direction. Just so much stuff like that. Great game yet still broken af.
