Hard to save a marriage when only one person is working on it
@miriam9775 Жыл бұрын
Same here. Sometimes there are things you are not able to change. Sometimes we need to respect the decision (active or passive) of the other spouse. It hurts. But we need to go on, and use our strength for the lords purpose. Often, he can not use our abilities, when we are only focused on this one unsolved thing. We need to go on. It hurts to write it like this. I hate, that I can not save our marriage.

I feel like it does start with your foundational relationship with the Lord . People will always let you down, people have faults, he is unconditional and if you have a strong relationship with him and you truly want to be christ-like these things don't usually prevail. I don't mean to be rude, but if your husband is a preacher and he's treating you like that it is hypocritical... that is someone who is not practicing what he preaches literally

I am active in church and spiritual growth as are my friends. Maybe birds of a feather flock together but way more than 3% of the people I know are in this boat. Almost all my friends have some kind of struggles. Many to the point of needing counseling tho not all, but most.
@amom2go101 Жыл бұрын
Everyone is going to have struggles in a marriage... there's opposition in all things in this life, it's what we do with that that matters and it is difficult at times , as many as stated, if you feel like you're the only one trying or doing anything and it's difficult to if you're in a relationship where you may have someone that is very narcissistic. You can tear yourself down thinking there's something wrong with you forever and that is destructive as well. He is totally on point...Satan knows where the weak strings are and he goes at them the minute they come into play and his goal is certainly to pull us away from the Lord, because ultimately, He is the one that can help pull us together, if both parties are willing. We all need to pray for each other and realize that we're not alone in the struggle..husbands, or wives.❤

So you're saying that if the church had a problem and wanted to talk to God about it - just like many churches do - that God would just say... I don't have a problem so theres not one? No. It works both ways bc God made it that way.
@joshuat7705 жыл бұрын
@@higsgirl I don't understand your post. If you are saying God as Husband and Church as His wife, then the church can entreat or pray to God. Just as Christ is Head of His Wife the Church, so is a husband head of his wife on earth. Genesis Chapter 3 Verse 16 says, "Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." Clearly it says the wife's desire is to be to her husband, and the husband shall RULE over her. This is God's Command after the fall of man. I choose to believe Scripture, not man's opinion.
@higsgirl5 жыл бұрын
@@joshuat770 But you're only believing parts. Just like you do not have to commit the sin there can also be the sin of omission. You're saying wives bow down but you're forgetting that you are COMMANDED too treat the wife as you'd treat yourself and to love her as christ loved the church. And that is His word, not my opinion! You've obviously been hurt by a woman or you just despise them? Idk but either way you need to speak the truth AND the whole truth and dont come on here riding a high horse with me. I choose to listen to Gods word and not your opinion either. And whatever beef you have with women, it probably stems from lack on your part in the first place. @amandabartley88475 жыл бұрын
The serious sin he is referring to is 1) he mentioned the man no longer being intimate with his wife... When we marry, our bodies belong to our spouses (the beginning of 1 Corinthians 7), and 2)..from what I infer, just the "we are married legally but no relationship" mentality doesn't exercise loving your wife as Christ loves the Church, and giving yourself up for her (Ephesians 5:25). I know this guy is a little" in your face", but I think he is trying to give good advice for couples two communicate better and restore their relationships.

Beginning at 2:50 to 3:00, Dr. Clarke seems to belittle and attack the main 3 things of the husband's job and role that Scripture Commands a husband to do. The Scriptures say this is what a husband is suppose to do for his wife. Exodus chapter 21 verses 10 thru 11 says, "10 If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish. 11 And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money. " (KJV) According to the Scriptures, the husband is commanded to provide his wife with: 1) Food 2)Clothes/Shelter 3)The duty of marriage or Conjugal Rights But Dr. Clarke says doing what the Scriptures Command is not enough. Dont forget unconditional love forgiveness love like christ loved the church
@joshuat7705 жыл бұрын
@@nectarioslafharis2149 It is true the husband is to Love his wife as Christ Love the Church. For clarity I will paste what God's Word instructs BOTH the WIFE and HUSBAND to do. Ephesians Chapter 5 Verses 22 thru 33. 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. The Word of God commands wives FIRST to submit to their own husbands as unto the Lord. Verse 22 alone goes against the teachings of David Clarke because David says the husband should submit to the wife. Verse 23 commands that the husband is the HEAD of the wife. The wife is not the head of her husband. Husband is compared to Christ. Wife is compared to Church. Verse 24: The church does not tell Christ what to do, the Church does not rule over Christ, the Church can not save Christ. It's the other way around because the Church is subject to Christ. So is the wife commanded to be subject to their husband IN EVERYTHING. Verse 25 commands husbands to Love their wives and give himself for her like Christ for the Church. Verse 26 thru 39 details the commands on HOW the husband should love and give himself for his wife like as Christ for the Church. Verse 26, husband is to sanctify and cleanse wife by the waters of the Word of God. Christ does the same for the Church. Verse 27, Husbands are to use the Word of God to cleanse every spot, wrinkle, blemish from his wife. Example is when the wife is in her emotions or worried or unhappy, the husband is supposed to quote some Word to her to cleanse that blemish of unhappiness or wrinkle of worry. He is NOT suppose to do EVERYTHING she wants just to make her happy like David Clarke suggest because Christ does not do EVERYTHING the Church wants just to make it happy. Christ has purpose in everything He does. So the husband must know the Word of God before getting a wife. Then the husband can present his wife TO HIMSELF a glorious wife just like Christ for the Church. Verses 28 & 29, goes back to Exodus Chapter 21 Verse 10. Husband is commanded to provide food, clothes, and duty of marriage. Husband takes care and loves his own body or flesh and so he must do so for his wife. Husband is to nourish his wife which is to feed her and provide food. Husband is to cherish his wife which is clothing her, providing shelter, keeping her warm. And husband is to perform the duty of marriage to his wife or conjugal rights. Even so the Lord does all these things for the Church. Verses 30 thru 32, just as the Church is of Christ's Body, Flesh, and Bone even so the wife is of the body, flesh, and bone of her husband. It's not the other way around. Genesis Chapter 2 Verses 21 thru 24 is alluded to here in the Book of Ephesians. The woman was taken out of the man, the man was not taken from the woman. The woman was made for the man as a helpmeet, not the man for the woman. Verse 33 in summary commands husband to love his wife as himself and wife see that she reverance her husband. David Clarke goes against everything the Bible teaches and commands husbands and wives. He switches the roles of husband and wife causing them to sin against God if they do what he says. David Clarke's methods destroys families and is not in line with God's Word in the slightest. David Clarke recommends his book or talk to a pastor but NEVER does he recommend the Bible. Jesus Christ and Paul spoke of people like him who lead the sheep of God to destruction and block them to the way of life. Davis Clarke should be ashamed of himself for deliberately deceiving husbands and wives who really want to do right and want their marriages to thrive. Not making your wife happy IS NOT a sin according to the Word of God but David Clarke says it is a great sin. Not doing what God says to do is a sin. God inspired the Bible and has over 5 thousand years of experience on the subject of marriage compared to David Clarke's 20 to 30 years of experience. I'd take my chances with God. As it says in Romans Chapter 3 Verse 4, Let God be True and every man a liar. I hope this helps. Doing marriage God's way from His Word is the ONLY fulfilling marriage. I challenge everyone to filter everything they learn or hear in this world through the Word of God. Blessings to you!

David always seem to blaming the man for all marriage troubles, which is not helpful as a marriage counsellor and shows gender bias against men. Wives need to be submissive and respect the husband’s opinions too, not just the husband loving the family by sacrificing outside the home (e.g. working hard) and not get appreciated for it at home. Sometimes wives can be very demanding on their husbands too, to the point that the man can’t handle it any more, especially in this feminist era.

How can anyone save their marriage from divorce if you are encouraging women to hire a lawyer and file for legal separation/divorce? "Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren." 1Co 6:1-8 (KJV)

Unfortunately Clarke believes that you can use any excuse to divorce. You just have to twist scripture to make it ok. I'm not sure why anyone should take his advice if he can't even be honest about the very specific prohibitions against divorce. Include reading the obvious meaning s of the scriptures he twists. Sadly he has found it more profitable in abusing men and selling his books and really bad advice sessions. His advice has destroyed a friend of our's marriage. Focus needs to recognize his teachings as those of a false teacher. Either you save it or decimate it, what is it Focus on the Family?
