I just tried to make them and they are absolutely delicious. I changed the recipe a bit though. Instead of jalapeños I used spring onions 'cause I don't like the taste of peppers. I also baked them instead of frying them since my mom has a high cholesterol level and doesn't really eat fried food. Anyways, they turned out super yummy and they were sooooo easy to make. Thanks so much for this amazing recipe, Gemma. I can't wait to try out different flavours soon :)

I've been subscribed to your channel since I started my freshman year of college. I also find it exciting to have something instead of sweet once in a while. My best friend loves savory food more than sweet. Despite the rest of my family loving sweets, my Chinese mom doesn't like sugar that much but strangely loves melted cheese, spicy food, and breakfast food like donuts. This might be the recipe for her.

I love this recipe! My family doesn't eat fried bready snacks that often so I use this recipe to bake a savory bread loaf. I do use my local spicy chillis instead of jalapeños (even the fresh jalapeños I can manage to get here in Korea turn out to be much milder!). The bread goes so well with cream cheese and bacon! I've even tried it with a homemade honey garlic spread (minced garlic, butter or olive oil, grated parmesan cheese, and a drizzle of honey, microwaved and mixed with parsley) and that was good too. I saw the older comments on this video and here in Korea, we have a few old-school (more of my parents' generation) fried wheat-based desserts, such as "doughnuts"(often using glutinous rice flour for the dough), with or without red bean paste for the filling, and kkwabaegi, a long piece of dough that has been joined into a ring and twisted before frying. Both are best served fresh and piping hot, either plain or dusted with granulated sugar.

Looks great! Can these be made eggless and baked or air fried as well?
@biggerbolderbaking
@biggerbolderbaking 4 жыл бұрын
You can use an egg substitute. Check Gemma's guide for egg substitutes in baking here www.biggerbolderbaking.com/egg-substitutes-for-baking/ And yes, you can bake these doughnuts at 350°F (180°C) for 12-15 minutes, but they are yummiest fried. We haven not tried this in an airfryer, hence, we can't say how it would turn out if cooked that way.

Could you cook/bake them in an Air Oven? And if so could you do a video on it? And can you use: olive oil or coconut oil if the air oven is not an option?
@biggerbolderbaking
@biggerbolderbaking 4 жыл бұрын
We have not tried that. Gemma does not use one. If you are experimenting, we would love to know your results. Other bold bakers have tried it and attest that it works.

These certainly are a sort of American version of what India has already done for centuries, but the difference is the addition of yeast of course. A good idea nonetheless! You should give the Indian vadas a try Gemma, and see how you like them😃.

Can I just put the dough in a bread pan and bake it like a loaf its sounds good
@biggerbolderbaking
@biggerbolderbaking 4 жыл бұрын
We do not recommend it. If you want to do that, use a bread recipe that's meant to be baked as a loaf and just add the jalapeno and cheese. Gemma's crazy dough recipe is a good one for it. Here is the link to it www.biggerbolderbaking.com/crazy-dough/
