Jigsaw is without a doubt one of the most interesting and deepest horror movie characters in horror history. I just wish they didn't focus on the violence so much and focus on the mystery and psychological aspect of horror. Violence doesn't make a horror movie scary by itself, it's just supposed to add to it.

It was revealed in Saw IV that Billy's design was taken from a smaller, slightly different version that John had shown to his then-wife, Jill. Also in Saw IV, it was revealed that the puppet was going to be a present for their unborn child (who Jigsaw could be seen constructing in a flashback in Saw III). It is possible that in some way Billy represents John's son, Gideon. Billy was originally a toy for Gideon, and losing his son is partly why John became Jigsaw. Gideon died before he could be born into a corrupt world and died pure. Billy tells those who are corrupt what they can do to fix their lives. Source: Sawfilms Wikia

I'm not sure, but it sure has a moral of some kind. The moral jigsaw intended us to learn is to value every day of our human existence, as if it were the last we would ever see. This means fighting hard to good what is good and benefits not only you as a person to lead a more fulfilling life, but respect and aid others as if they were just like ourselves. I believe Kramer's 'missing piece' message was intended to symbolise that the person lacked this aiding quality which most normal people who value life to the fullest poses. We as humans have one life, and it should not be squandered in any way. We should act in a good beneficial way for ourselves as well as others. It makes everyone's lives more worth living and makes you a better person
