Jigsaw is back in this sequel/prequel that takes the franchise back to its roots. Is it too late to recapture the bloody magic?

Honestly, so glad they FINALLY made a decent movie again. This movie did an excellent job giving you the nostalgia of the older movies. Hope there’s more to come.

I think all the core actors in the movie deserve more credit here, I actually thought they all did a really great job. Not just Tobin and Shawnee, but the four in the main trap room too. Even though we were meant to somewhat be rooting against them, they were all still played very believably and put some oomph into their performances that I feel like I haven’t seen in most of the previous Saw films

This was a great f***ing movie. As a hardcore Saw fan, and having gone to the theaters to see all but the first film, this was a great movie in this Franchise, especially with the return of some fan favorite characters. I really wish Jigsaw would have done better because I actually loved that particular movie, and always wanted a direct sequel to it, especially after waiting 7 years for a new movie at that time. Spiral wasn't all that bad, and would have been nice to have seen it continued as well because Chris Rock did an awesome f***ing job in it, especially considering it wasn't his normal type of movie that he usually does, which is one of the reasons why I loved him in it so much.

"it's a little too complicated, a little too complex, and a little too long." Back to formula for saw!

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if the Jigsaw that died in 3 was a body double and John is still out there doing his thing.

Interesting thought that saw X, being a horror sequel that ignores all previous existing entries and is a direct sequel to the original, almost makes you wonder if they’ll finally split off into another timeline like Halloween did. Too early to say for certain, but the franchise decision to kill off jigsaw, which was supposed to end the franchise, always seem to cripple it, so it’ll be interesting to see where they go from here. Tobin Bell continues to be the best part of these movies, so all for it.

"Saw X" has a focus on Kramer's vulnerability and human side, which plays into the current mantra in Hollywood: "You either die a villain or live long enough to see yourself become an anti-hero."

You won't believe that the final twist is John Kramer going to space to put aliens in death traps.

Thanks for the down-to-earth review Dan, too many over excited reviews of this movie. The 1st Saw film was very very clever, I felt they focused too much on gore later as they ran low on creativity

Although I was rooting for jigsaw and the traps I appreciated that all the players had the will to live. Even tho they didn’t act on it fast enough to beat the 3 minutes.

Yeah, the last 20 mins kinda let it down a bit, but it was still pretty decent and I'm glad they're back on track.

Just wanted to say having seen the film, you are beyond respectful when it comes to spoilers. Good on you for that!

I like all 10 movies. They gross me out and make me squirm and that's all I want from a Saw movie. I'm not expecting Oscar worthy scripts.

If anybody has complaints about the gore in a Saw movie, really needs to have their heads examined for going to this picture

Dan, any chance we’ll get your thoughts on a company buying a 60% majority stake in Letterboxd?
