Thank you my friend! I have a bit of a rough edge lol, a holdover from the "projects" I suppose, but I mean well. I have only had a few teachers in my life, but they all were fighters of the highest caliber and so they broke all thing down to me. I try to pass it on as much as possible. I hope to do some seminars soon and tape them. I will also look into writing a book. Until then, thank you for your support and trust. Be well, and the best to you and those you hold dear. Sayf

Your videos are great. What most people don't realize about the blocks in kata is that sometimes they are not blocks all; sometimes they are strikes , arm breaks, or methods of throwing someone or taking someone to the ground. That being said, if you study bunkai closely you will notice multiple purposes of even a simple tec

I guesse this is why Karate is known as a deadly art in the streets. it just so happens that guns and knives are more preferred by people for protection. Somehow this video got me so interested in learning karate compared to some movies I watched when I was a kid. I wish there's a master like you here in my country. Snake oil are everywhere :)

awesome man what an eye opener! I was talking about this kind of stuff with my flatmate a few days ago, she does jujitsu and did some forms in the beginning which feel totally awkward and useless. Later on her sensei begins explaining how the forms are related to weapons and heavy armours and it totally made sense for her when she tried out the weapons. Anyways you should write a book or something! Love your vids always very logical and right to the point!

No, I have not studied "Tensho". It is a Goju kata and I have not studied Goju in depth YET lol. That said, ALL katas have value if the CORRECT bunkai is practiced.

My hands use to be "beaten up", but over the years they have lost some of the callouses. If you are not breaking (Boards, Ice, Cement etc), there is no need to go beyond a minimum amount of conditioning.

whats up sayf how u doing , i might have to defend my self in a street fight next week and im just wondering do u recommend any safe type of combos where i throw a punch with out the thought of him countering and crushing me .. i usually use the combos of jab cross left hook then follow by another jab and some times play it safe by going one two then covering up what u recommend bro

I do not like to keep commenting on ANY style actually. My point is always that no style created arms and legs! To think that one style is the ultimate only shows a lack of real experience in the street.

like the inside block is a shock power move its is used to disrupt a persons bridge or to crack down. if u want there is a video of an two practitioners i would love to show u

The hands are not meant to hit hard objects so they should be conditioned to withstand it. It is much like when Hagler would punch himself in the head in order to get "acquainted" with the shock of taking blows to the body. There is know need to break your hand or foot on cement though lol! Just hitting the back of your knuckles lightly against a wall will help toughen your hand even without developing a callous.

No offense but this is the wrong idea of karate blocks.this is completely wrong.

Hello SafyCarmen (The UmmahFightCamp) I have not wrote in a long time I hope all is well. Your channel has inspired me and because of the knowledge you expose us to have made me appreciate martial arts and it’s applications; As of right now post Covid I am looking to add kickboxing to my training (prior was ITF TAEKWONDO and Classical Japanese martial arts I have seen something that might interest you and if you have the time, to be able to make a comment on a video; I was wondering if you have seen Lanna Muay Thai KZbin channel on this channel they do a Muay Boran demonstrations verifying exactly what you spoken about in your “karate blocks are not blocks video “. My other point is that there is not much difference except cultural favourite techniques (Thai’s showcasing knees and elbows where other martial arts showcase other tools of hand and feet) I hope this text makes sense. Thank you for your time and input

In another video I remember you saying that blocking could cause arm injuries. So you preferred parries. What about double bone blocking? This way of blocking reduces the impact of the strikes you're blocking helping to reduce injuries to your arms. www.fightingarts.com/reading/article.php?id=334
