This guy knows what he's talking about. Amateur competitions are also essential if you wanna be at least advanced.

Even if James does not win, anyone who sees him even in a loss witnesses one of the greatest defense wizards in the history of boxing. The man fought and survived against heavyweights Roy Jones swore to not fight! He was able to survive because of his defense.

I remember in my boxing day when going up against a southpaw my coach would always tell me to throw the 2, 3, it worked at a high percentage. Great points, especially about watching the shoulder....

my trainer is the same way... He is although a young trainer (age 24), but has learned from his teacher who was a old man as well... My trainer gave me a bunch of tapes and documentarys to watch of fighters such as Ezzard Charles, Jersey Joe Walcott, he gave me one tape of Charley Burley, we watch alot of Archie Moore, Willie Pep...

U are right about Toney, but I would not put him before Ray Robinson. Warning: Do not be one of the many who have forgotten one of the greatest Defensive fighters in history: Pernell "sweet pea" Whitaker

can a fighter start a certain punch so his shoulder moves accordingly then change mid way to another punch to trick his opponent who is concentrating on the shoulder??
@TheUmmahFightCamp11 жыл бұрын
Abdelsalam, Our anatomy is what it is and therefore all we can do is try to not exaggerate the movement. The quicker we throw the punch, the less time left for them to react. Tayib?

Sayf was there ever a fighter who was young and knew all the tricks of the trade? I belive that a young james toney and george benton were those type of fighters. I would also consider ray robinson and archie moore to be that way. But, the only young fighter that i ever seen to have put on a class a defensive pugulist type of fight was nicolino locche, but i belive he was not very young at that time of the fight with the japanese guy.

I love this video...it's a shame that i have to change my style when i fight because im an amateur..the amateur system (although slightly improved now) might save someone from a litte punishment but will be the reason for a lot of fighters' downfall down the road..the part at the end about the core of boxing instead of youth really got to me..i wonbut in my fight i didnt use half of the stuff i know.. i just went in and out w/ my legs for defense
