Papyrus is easily my favorite character, and I actually adore this interpretation of his voice. As much as I love and appreciate the over-the-top supervillain-Skeletor-esque voice most people give him, this version sounds... cute. He sounds more personable, like a hyped-up manchild more than a flamboyant anime villain - and that's usually how I imagine him. He's still capable of screaming and rolling his R's too much, but he can also just talk like a normal person and it's adorable, I wanna hug him. Sidenote, I've been playing around with the idea of a "malk" animatic that, no joke, involved those three specific characters (but I had their roles different, and Gaster was the one asking for inside voices lol) so now I'm just beaming ear to ear that whoever commented that thought to put Mettaton in there and use the blasters as guns.

I love Papyrus as a character and the natural voice I picture him with is very docile and friendly while also absolutely sounding like an agitated skeletor wannabe when he's trying to be a villain. Making him very shrill but also excited when talking to the human when explaining to them how he's going to capture them because he's not used to being as loud or mean as he's trying to do so. The thought that he loosens up over the trip through Snowdin and slowly loosens up to the human until his voice sounded naturally like a skeleton dating a human by the end made me live the character even more. The only other character I feel could change their voices like him is Mettaton and even them I just imagine him sounding mostly robotic but being very exasperated until his plan is told to you and he tells it to you in the most auto generated type of voice you think he could have to show he's no longer playing the host. Papyrus is probably the most 3 dimensional character in terms of characters that don't hold determination off of interpretation of his voice alone.

They always could! Monster's magic works entirely off of intent. If Paps threw a bone attack at you with no intention of harming you, it wouldn't do any damage, it wouldn't hurt. If a monster's intent is to kill? Big ouchie. So if a monster uses their own magic with the intent to harm themselves, it can be done. Fucked up, but the tablets on the walls in the game explain how magic is all about intent.
