Not true if you call your provider you can get it lowered if it is very high abnormally high. I went from 70-130 ping to 10-25ping.

Have you re-booted your router in awhile? Also it depends on the game - some do have longer latency as standard.

Dark Matter in display and audio change your hz to 120 hz. U wont get the full 120 but it will go to highest it can. It’ll reduce your ms

OrentholJames that has nothing to do with latency, thats the refresh speed (frames per second) you see in game (xbox caps out at 60fps) which is essentially all you really need for gaming

Your router. The incoming internet line plugs into the modem. The modem plugs into your router. Your PC / Consoles plug into your router.

So my ping is fine at 33 my download is at 34 but my upload is at 2.67 sure I have other things on in the house but I used to get great gameplay. I don't know what it used to be at before I got this message but my xbox told me I have now a 88% packet loss......I have no idea why or how but I woke up this morning to play and that's what it said...If there is any answer to this I would greatly appreciate it. My guess is that my xbox one is old as hell and I may need to get rid of it and get a new one but I am not sure. Thanks

16 ping is pretty good - the wifi extender would just introduce more latency (longer ping) so I'd avoid it if possible.

Ping, latency, and lag are not the same thing. The definition you gave at the beginning of the video is not ping, it is latency and it was not complete because the data have to go back to your device (round trip). You can go to www.pcmag.com/article/362924/measure-your-network-latency-before-it-becomes-a-problem for more information about latency. If you have legit information source about ping, latency, and the difference between them, I will appreciate you send me that information. My laptop (Acer circa 2014) get 10ms ping plugged directly into my hub 3.0. My x box one (not s or x I've had it a while) plugged directly in gets 24ms ping. Any insight on this?

They're probably pinging different servers - that would explain the variance. Don't sweat it too much, they're both nice and low!

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I have a problem that you may be able to help me with. Broadband test on my PC gives a Ping of 14ms. When I run Detailed Network Stats on my Xbox One I get 153ms Latency. I have a wired connection to both. I keep reading that Ping and Latency are the same-ish, so, any idea why am I getting these widely different results?

Just answered my own question. I went into Xbox One Network settings and selected Alternate MAC address, re booted the Xbox and my 153ms became 21ms.
