This call inspired me, I got a call from a 'solar power' scammer at a call center. First, I claimed not to know what solar power was, and made him explain the whole concept. What if I want to watch TV at night?" I asked and he replied there were batteries. "I have batteries in my TV?" I asked, and he said "no, they're in your house". Then, I said I didn't need it, as I hooked up a bunch of microwaves in a circle and generated enough electricity to power my whole house. "You can really do that?" he asked excitedly. I told him I read it on the internet. "But there's only one problem. Now I glow so brightly I keep my wife awake all night!" I told him as I laughed and hung up. Keep up the good work!

@cyan Not saying this type of work is ethical, moral, or right. But for many young English speakers in India this is one of the only ways they can make a decent wage. I've read some reports of scam callers making around $2-5/hr (usd) which is over 5-15 times the average yearly income for India. Other call center work can be half that pay. And in a country where a large majority of the population are farmers, miners, fishers, and other laborers, it can seem like the only option for young Indians. Like I said, I don't condone this work and wish the Indian authorities would work harder to put an end to it. I can understand that some people feel they have no other option to provide for their family.

Sometimes yes these people do harm to people for fun but mostly for money they don't need. But sometimes people do it because they feel they have to. Young men in Africa kill elephants and rhinos because it can bring them a lot of money in a place where there is little money to be made. My pharmacy supervisor is Indian and has a strong accent, whenever she would make the calls people would accuse her of being a scammer or straight up hang up on her. It got to the point where she would give the task to others in the pharmacy. Its so sad these scammers give honest working Indian people a bad rep. My supervisor was extremely professional the most knowledgeable and super patient with the elderly on the phone, it sucked to see her be accused of being a scammer.
