So what youre telling me is that you bought a used 9 year old 5200 dollar hyundai, without getting a pre purchase inspection and turning down a warranty, knowing of their engine blowing tendencies, and are mad because the engine blew? im not a huge fan of crying wheels but this def isnt a scam lol. its the risk you take buying used cars, especially a hyundai/kia product. I feel for you guy but you’re so wrong about everything. I’m a dealer, and dealers almost NEVER offer an in house warranty on any used cars. Dealers often sell 3rd part warranties. You bought a used car “as-is” and are upset that it broke? I’m confused. How were you scammed? You literally said in the video you knew Hyundai / Kia blow motors like crazy, yet you bought one anyway. Your next mistake was trading it in on a junk Nissan Versa. Your biggest mistake was making a video claiming he scammed you. You have no evidence you were scammed. I’d have had my lawyer serve you by the next day with a lawsuit pending. We’d be filing a defamation case at a minimum. You feel he owes you because you declined a warranty and bought a car with no PPI? $5500 is OK for him to spend because he can afford it? Listen here man $5500 is $5500 to anybody! You screwed yourself.

@@BlankBillions no I agree that the used car market is expensive. What I'm getting at is if dealers do a bore scope on the engine, and drive it 200 miles, the cost of that used car is going to go up as well. So that 5500 dollar car is going to be 7500. The dealer can't do those things without making the car even more expensive. So, in an as is situation, the buyer is going to have to take the risk or do the bore scope themselves.

The Brady Bunch taught me, when I was only 10 years old, "Caveat Emptor" or let the buyer beware. This is on you. Legally, they did nothing wrong, and sometimes crap just breaks. You buy a car at the auction that gets driven in and out at speeds less than 20. It is then driven at low speed to load it on a trailer, then parked on a lot and checked. Then you bought it. How would they know? It is more likely the last owner knew and ditched a problem. It is even possible the selling dealer at the auction knew or the wholesaler. Either way this is why you check things out and avoid problematic cars.

You purchased a nearly 10 year old automobile “as-is,” what more needs to be said? Nobody forced or tricked you into the car, nor did they force you to forego a PPI or scanning it yourself. You should also bear in mind the cost of the automobile and how no reasonable business would offer any warranty on any car of this vintage. Do you think you would have paid $5200 if it did have one? You also failed to mention the mileage in your video, please excuse me if you did and missed it. How many miles has this Hyundai accrued in its 9+ years? I won’t ask why not simply use $5200 as a down payment and make small monthly payments in exchange for the peace of mind in knowing that you’re covered because I do not know your financial situation. However, no reasonable person can expect any type of warranty under these circumstances and you were assured upfront that you are “on your own.” You agreed. In fact, even if the dealer did reimburse you for a brand new engine, it could open the door to future claims since they are agreeing to the warranty claim in the first place. What if they replaced the engine and next week your (fragile) dual clutch gearbox decides to fail? When would their liability end? When you say so! You gambled/lost, as you did when you decided to forego the temp tag/inspection and just “slap a plate on.” Interesting to note, you would’ve probably had more leverage when they went to inspect it and fail at their facility. They honored their word in selling you a product for a price that you agreed to when signing an “as-is” bill of sale. Call it a learning experience but this is how life is in the real world and you should not try to manipulate others to do as you wish by leveraging your hardships. None of this should be new information to you.

Here's a short but long explanation of how I take your video and it's just advice so take it for what it's worth. This was painful to watch, I feel sorry for you and I also feel sorry for the dealer. I'm a dealer in North Carolina and legally Flying Wheels can't repair the car if the laws are the same there as they are here. Any vehicle sold "as is" has to be in fact sold "as is", if they offered to fix the car and did so then that is an "implied warranty" which in NC means Flying Wheels would have to warranty the car for as long as you owned it, no way out of it. Now as far as trading you back out of it that is totally up to the dealer, I'm sure they could work something out with you if you said that's 100% what you want to do. I'm just curious how much time passed before you let them know it had an issue? If you let them know as soon as you got home that the check engine light came on before it made it home from the dealer then I feel like things would have been different for you. I know from experience that a customer will lie to a dealer way more than a dealer lies to customers. Buyers are liars, It's a sad but true fact. I'm definitely not saying you're lying but you have to look at it from the perspective of the dealer as to getting a phone call days or weeks later stating the car had an issue that started on the drive home from the dealership and I'm just now contacting you, sounds a little unbelievable. Again I feel like you're telling the truth about the car and situation but anything could have happened in the amount of time you bought the car and when you finally contacted the dealer, that's why it would have been critical for you to let them know as soon as it happened. It's a no win situation for the dealer either way and you should have requested to drive the car further than a mile or so at 35mph, go on a second test drive with the detail guy and put it through it's paces. Another thing is they offered you an extended warranty which you had the opportunity to buy but declined to do so because you had a predetermined mindset that the warranty is no good. If a dealer is "throwing in a warranty" or "including a warranty" on any used vehicle it has to be listed on the bill of sale because if not that's going back to an "implied warranty" and they never expire once the dealer repairs the vehicle. Definitely do not trust a dealer that says they are giving you a warranty and it's not listed anywhere in the paperwork. I'm sorry this happened and I watch Flying Wheels too and I do feel like Craig is an honest, understanding person but his hands are tied when it comes to repairing the vehicle. I'd try asking really nicely how you could trade out of it and get into a different, more reliable vehicle for your son. Not to pour salt on your wound but 5 minutes worth of research on Google would have made you run from certain Hyundai's and Kia's, a lot of them are ticking time bombs. It's just a bad situation all around, I'm sorry.

Yes, the warranty company would have flagged the claim as potential fraud, BUT that would be fraud from the dealer, not you. I don’t think he intentionally sold a lemon, nor do you based on this video. The dealer and the warranty co would have to decide between the two of them who’s going to pay the claim. The warranty company has far more power than us regular people. Regardless of who ended up paying, I think you would have got a new engine. I’m sorry you’re in this situation… 😪

Craig is a joke but I don't see how this is a scam as this is a terrible car and driving one is like playing roulette

Where’s the scam? That they aren’t paying to fix your car after you declined a warranty?

I can verify Craig was busy on Labor Day. He had an appointment to get his hair highlights done to match his sunglasses then he spent the day on his boat so he couldn’t call you back. How many miles did this jalopy have? Is there a reason I’m missing as to why the lemon laws don’t apply?

If Craig has hair highlights then definitely he should refund anyone who bought “as is” despite the fact that they were complete honest and upfront with him and told him they weren’t even doing a ppi. Good reasoning there emotional Karen.
