For those who got the trick to work but are amazed why it actually works, here is a nerdy explanation, get a cup of coffee and follow this math logic: 1) First forget about this trick for a second and consider a random pile of card, the number of cards in that deck shall be N. Let’s name the position of any random card in that pile i (1

@NemosChannel9 жыл бұрын
Outmane Lemtiri Chlieh you can always trust a PhD to explain a simple thing in a very complicated way :) The gist of the trick is that the second person passes by the target card when he deals out cards. At that point, what number he chose and what he does with the remaining cards doesn't matter because their order doesn't matter. All that matters is - the first person put a certain number of cards underneath the target card, and the second person is now putting that same number of cards (in a different order) on top of the target card. The first person then deals out that same number again, and the target card is now on top. Another way to look at it is that the first person does something, then the second person puts the target card in the exact opposite place in the pile, and the first person undoes what the did the first time. Since the originally bottom card was put in it's opposite place, and what was done to it was undone, it's now on top. In a nutshell, it's a complicated way to put a card on the bottom, then deal out the entire pile, and then be surprised that the card is now on top.

Instead of having them count to a number between 10-15, they could each spell their selected card 3 times (for example t-h-r-e-e-o-f-s-p-a-d-e-s). This repetition would pretty much guarantee that they won't forget their card. It would still be like the 9 card "Spelling Bee" trick on steroids.

I absolutely love scam school but one of my favorite things about these classic episodes is the idea of Brian going up to random tables at the bar slamming down a deck of cards and asking “would you like to see a magic trick?”
@c22madkat2110 жыл бұрын
It works by counting the same pile the first time and the last time. So, after you count [x] cards you pass the deck for someone else to count [y] cards and then get it back to count your [x] cards again. The trick works because after the first count there are [x] cards below yours. Then when someone else counts [y] they pass your card and place the remaining cards on top. The cards on top now are the same [x] that where at the bottom just in a different order, so when you count your [x] again, it leads to your card.

all decks are being hit by the same "personal number". This guy tricks us into thinking we are choosing a random number but we are just replacing the cards in the cycle. Thats why he swaps the decks around so each person hits their number. Completely rotates the decks and boom.
@jasoncurtis84116 жыл бұрын
Instead of using a random number between 10 and 15 use the trick from spelling bee and have them spell out their entire card, "number of suite". This always keeps you within 10-15 cards without having to narrow their choice. It might make it feel even more random because there are only 5 numbers between 10 and 15 but 52 cards. Or have them chose their favorite card.
@nickleptich39998 жыл бұрын
neat little variation on the trick in this video: if you only have one spectator with you, have them select any card place it at the bottom of the deck. then without ever touchjng the deck just have them select a number between 30 and 42. then have them quietly cojnt out all of the cards to their number and put the remaining cards on top. do this a total of three times and the selected card appears at the top of the deck. magic. or you can do this same trick with six smaller but roughly equal packs. have them select a number between 4 and 8. but here you DO have to the pack switches and be wary of which decks youre switching. i found swapping 1, 2 and 3 together and then 4, 5 and 6 together works the easiest for beginners.

I may have done the first transcontinental magic trick, was on a three way phone call with sister and her roommate and my mom. My sister dealt the cards and separated deck, told my mom what card was in her pile and got her magic number, got them to do the count down, the switch, and blew there minds with successfull results

I've tried it, it still works. Also, no all you need is 2 people. Just remember that each deck has to be count out a total of 3 times. 1st count by Player 1 then by Player 2 and once again by Player 1.
@everis253511 жыл бұрын
The secret to this trick is basic algebra. The number you "own" is, say x. The important part is that the deck is roughly a third, and your x isn't bigger than your pile n, but x is also not smaller than half the pile. n - x is how far down your card is after the first run of this. Then, every time someone else applies their number, they are guaranteed to hit your card. So, [y - (n-x)] + [ n - y ] = x is how far your card is from the top. The left brackets are from counting off their number, the right is what's left. If the next guy does it your card will be n-x from the top, then x again after. If you have more or less people, just make sure you give the pile back to the person after an odd number of people rearrange their pile.

An A plus trick but I am not sure if it was emphasized enough that after switching piles, the piles MUST go back to the original owner and not just any of the 3 oeople. To this end, I'd probably just all swipe clockwise where person 1 ends up with pile 3. For the last count swipe, counter clockwise, everything returns to original position for example 3 returns their new pile to position 2.

If the piles are divided 'evenly', there are two 17 card stacks and an 18 card stack. Use a 17 for example. person 1 counts 13 (for example), then drops remaining cards on top. Their card is now 4th from the top (it started on bottom). The next person counts some number (whatever) so that person 1's card is now 4th from the bottom (it was the 4th counted).That means it has 13 on top of it. Now back to person 1 with that stack, he/she counts off those 13 and voila!, there card is back on top!

Why the confusion with ABC: A C A B and then B C A B? The easier and better way to remember is to pick one spectator and move their card "counter clockwise" twice, then pick the same spectator the second time around and move their pile "clockwise" twice. That's it. no ABC memorizing :D

My shot at an intuitive explanation: Let this be a stack of cards, with our card marked 'X': top OOOOOOOOOOOX bottom (12 cards) We first take off the top bunch of cards and put them on the bottom, (say 7), so now we'll have exactly 7 cards beneath our card: top OOOOXOOOOOOO bottom. What our stranger needs to do for us is to turn the deck upside down. That way, there are exactly 7 cards on top. But it'd be WAY too obvious if we told them to turn it upside down. SO, instead, we tell them to 'deal out the cards one by one'. If they do this for the entire stack: 123456789X X987654321 Clearly you see how the stack would get turned upside down. But in our deck all the cards EXCEPT our chosen one are irrelevant. We really only have to reach our chosen card to get the same effect. So any number in a middling range (ie: "10-15" for a 20 card deck, or "4-9" for our 12 card deck ) would do. Lets go with 6 for simplicity: top OOOOXOOOOOOO bottom. top OOOOOO bottom. redeal: OXOOOO Put back on top: OOOOOOOXOOOO bottom. Voila! its functionally the same as flipping the stack upside down. And since all we have left are 'Os', we could have picked 7, 8, 9, 10...even 12 would have worked, technically. Now we give it back to the first person and, trivially, since they put 7 (or any number) of cards UNDER their starting card initially, they are guaranteed to have that many ON TOP in the end. Awesome! -AHMAD
