I bought an orange Mora at a wallmart the other day for mighty 11dollars and change. Didn't know all that much about them at the time of purchase. The main reason for me to buy it I admit was it said right on the box "made in Sweeden". It was rather unusual to find an item made in the old world, especially at a chinamart at the end of 2024.
@Beekman2684Ай бұрын
I carry a Mora everywhere I go. I was always told by my father that a gentleman always has a knife. On the trail it has always done what I needed it too. It was a gift, and I say that to only highlight the point that I normally do not buy knives that are not full tang. In any event it's lasted me a lot longer than some of the other ones I have and I tend to be rough on them.

Great video as always! I really like Scandinavian knives. Simple design. Just gets the job done. I won’t say that the scandi grind is the perfect, but is really great for woodworking. I really like a convex grind. I think that it works quite well for food prep and does quite well for woodworking. I also think that people like what they learned with.

My favorite woods knife is the Terävä Jääkäripuukko 140. I love the blade profile, toughness, comfortable grip, and the longer length than a standard puukko. Since I live in a remote, wooded area, and I do frequent small wood cutting/carving tasks, my EDC knife is the Cold Steel Finn Wolf. The Finn Wolf is about the closest you can get to a Scandinavian knife in a folding pocket knife.

I have been a fan of Mora Scandi grind knives for quite a few years. My current favorite knife that I carry on me all the time is what Amazon calls "Morakniv Pro C Craftline". I chose this particular knife because it has a design that is better suited for field dressing big game such as moose or caribou. This is the third Mora design that I have owned and this is my favorite of them all so far. I am very pleased with it. I like a scandi grind because I feel that the blade is a stronger blade for it's thickness since the blade carries the full blade thickness over the majority of the blade.

Nice one Bjørn! You see it when holding the Helle Viking based on archaeological finds. The modern Scandinavian knives have a timeless design. A design that has worked for ages by people who needed the knives as a tool every day for the living. No nother influences than made for working with. I just love to acompanion the typical sami knife to this collection of examples. A timeless Scandinavian design, it just elongeates as a part of your hand naturally when working. Happy New Year and Happy Trails!

Sweden with Moras, Fällknivens and Casströms etc, Finland with age old puukko tradition, Marttiinis, Rosellis etc. And with all the Varusteleka knives, Skramas, Jääkäripuukkos, then Peltonen knives, Brisa, Korpisoturi etc. Thanx for the video!

I love the scandi grind knives, especially in carbon steel, yes carbon steel needs more often to be sharpened, but the sharpening of carbon steel is faster done (as the scandi grind are, so I find that to be a great combination). Although carbon steel corrode more easily, it is easy to prevent it. Wipe off moisture after use, and oil them often!

I have several Mora's too I use more often than not. What I will say is, I don't fancy the Scandi grind style. Coming from a pure scandinavian (danish) so this might sound strange, but I find that I need to remove more metal than what I otherwise would (classic flat grind, spine to edge). But, I am a professional sharpener so I might be slightly biased. I can understand why people appreciate the ease of sharpening on this style, yes, the angle is easier to hold and you will not round your edge (making it blunter) this way.

For budget , the Mora Companion HD . The Garberg feels comfortable until its used . I find it fatigues the muscle behind my thumb quite a bit . The casstrom No 14 was a huge disappointment for me . Their No10 and Lars Falt are my favourite Knives , but they changed the Handle on the No 14 . It is much thinner and therefore doesn't stay in the sheath very well .

I have a scandi grind Pukko by Ahti and like it very much. I use it in the winter time because I cannot hold onto my full tang Nessmuk (scandi grind)I when it is cold and will not wear gloves when using my knife so, I go with my beloved Ahti! . I also have a Mora clad (Scout) and my Joker Nessmuk which are my only knives. Americans like knocking knives with not full tangs which is BS in my opinion, since I've never heard of a rattail failing ("experts" must have something to hustle, I guess).
