I was born (1960) and raised in Tampa, Florida. Although Tony was a fictional character the Miami Cuban immigrant crisis was real with around 125,000 people sent here by Castro’s government in 1980, many of them violent criminals. South Beach at the time had turned into a seedy crime filled area rife with drug dealing and other criminal activity so the overall “feel” of the Miami scene at the time is captured accurately… lots of drugs, lots of violence, lots of money.

People may think it’s inhumane, but any country that is concerned with the welfare of its citizens and health of the nation has got to be concerned with border security/functioning immigration policies. I think so many countries are being destroyed right now because of the inability to provide this security.

5 months later I'm finally checking this one out! As for the beginning, yes. These type of people really were coming over from Cuba. In fact, some of the video footage of the boats and of Cuba is real. It's very similar to what's going on today at the southern border, only they're being cut loose these days. Oh...and when they were chasing Rivenga, they were yelling "Libertad." It's spanish for freedom.

Nobody thinks about the maid who has to clean all that mess up. She's the real victim in the end. Seriously though, It's interesting to know how the video game picked up the moment leading up to that final shootout, seconds before "The Skull" assassin snuck up from behind and gave Tony a massage with the shotgun. If memory serves right, the scene has Tony whirl around and shoot the guy and escape the area, loses everything, and comes back to start life anew. It is **almost** like _Grand Theft Auto Vice City_ but has a few different elements swapped out. Despite the hype for this flick, I personally think it's... interesting... but nothing to obsess over like so many tend to do. Montana is great for character study for some KZbin channels. I can be a fan of any main or secondary character's development during the story whether it's for better or worse. Right from the start you could tell his perception of the "American Dream" was skewed. Money. Power. Women. A thing for tiger stripe pattern interior and having a pet chained in the backyard. Symbolism, I guess. He forgot "manners".

I've watched this movie at least 150x. Every day after HS in 86, I popped the tape in the VCR. Everyone imitated lines from Scarface. I could recite every line verbatim from the movie. When I watch it again, I'm in awe of the acting and the mood of the film. Every character is memorable. Stylized almost cartoonishly but never crosses the line where it's not believable. The casting is impeccable. Who else could have played Tony Montana but Al Pachino. Who could have played Frank Lopez better than Robert Loggia? Tony's mother was acted brilliantly. Great, great movie. They definitely don't make it like this anymore. Movies today suck.

There's been rumors of a remake for about 10 years, only this time the plot involves the mexican cartels, which is funny since Scarface inspired the brashness of the lifestyle the cartels live by, and the brutality. I always like to say that in my fictional world, Elvira and Tony did conceive a child (obviously before she left him), the child then grew up to become a DEA agent who's assignment was to take down Sosa's cartel.

The first Al Pacino movie I ever watched 13 years ago when I was 14.

I watched this movie while I was in Marine Corps Supply School with some Marines, myself being one. I quickly found out it's not safe to begin the movie by joyfully quoting every fucking line. A Devil Dog had passed out that night and had lipstick rubbed over his whole face...I stopped running my mouth so it wasn't me. Standing Monday morning in formation? Only one of us had a "sunburn". Semper Fi!

Steven Bauer who plays Manny in this played Don Eladio in Breaking Bad. The assassin guy plays Don Hector in Breaking Bad as well

I've watched several reaction videos with Asia and BJ and they are a magical couple, so entertaining and Asia's laugh has me in stitches. This reaction to one of my all time favourite films was just as I hoped it would be, absolutely brilliant. Keep up the good work you two! 👍👍

Tony isn’t a good guy, but it’s easy to see why his ambition is admired by a lot of fans of the movie.

This movie was positively iconic in the ghetto in the 90s. I barely knew a guy that didn't have Scarface and 2Pac on their walls. White, Black, Brown didn't matter, everybody loved Tony Montana. Which is funny because the director thought he was making a movie condemning Tony's lifestyle. What he didn't understand is when you're on the bottom, you don't care how long it lasts. All that matters is that you get to be king for a little while. Plus some part of every hustler thinks they are the guy that is gonna beat the game.

Cause everyone who admired the character didn’t get the point of the character. They probably didn’t understand why they keep having run ins with the cops and why they live a life in and out of jail

When you see people like Tony Montana, real life drug kingpins, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, etc as heroes/idols, you've already lost in life. That's what separates the good people from the scum of the world. Good people see someone like Tony Montana for the lowlife that he is and therefore they don't want to be like that.

In the bathroom, after Hector kills Angel, he turns to Tony and says "Okay, cara cicatriz." Cara cicatriz means scar face in spanish. This is the ONLY time the phrase/name "scar face" is used in the movie.

I watched this with my nephew who'd never watched before. And almost halfway through the movie he said It seemed so familiar to him that he thought he may have seen it before. But then it hit him that he was thinking about grand theft auto. Everything in it was taken from this movie and that's why he recognized so many things.😂
