You mentioned Salamanga from Breaking Bad is in the movie. Manny, Tony's friend that he kills, plays Gus Fring's drug boss Don Eladio in Breaking Bad. The chainsaw scene was filmed showing the sawed-off arm of Tony's friend. But Brian DePalma decided not showing it in the final cut left it up to the viewer's imagination and that was horrific enough. The term "ye-yo" became a thing after the movie came out as what cocaine was called.

I think lot of people underestimate the restaurant scene, "I always tell the truth, even when I lie", that's exactly what Tony's character , when they are asking at immigration about his parents, and he said they are dead, of course his mom is not dead, but actually he knew that for her mother, he doesn't exist, so i think is is very important moment in that restaurant scene, "You are not good, you just know how to hide ......."

Striving to do good is one thing, but playing the "good person" while hiding is another kind of dishonesty, cunning and/or cowardice that is difficult to be around. ( Unless like-minded individuals are in on the game, then it's easy. ) From a spiritual perspective, who among us is truly good, anyway. We're all hypocrites. Some are much less so than many.

You still can in CT wild enough. If you have a passenger you can literally have open hard liquor bottles throughout the car without breaking the law. The passenger is the key, it's legal for any passenger in a car in CT to drink open containers and cops can't assume it's the driver's liquor/beer. That is literally still current law. The law was passed back in 1974 and is still current law in 2025.

This is dedicated to Howard Hawks. Who is he? The writer-director of the original Scarface, from 1932. The plot is exactly the same, only, of course, bloodier and about to collapse under the weight of the eff bombs. Otherwise it is the same film. Paul Muni played Tony, and he was the first of the method actors. The world is yours, the incestuous love.(Played up more in 1932), killing his best friend, etc., were all there in 1932. Except that Scarface was Italian, not Cuban. Hawks was the greatest director of classic Hollywood, bar none. He is father to Tarantino, Carpenter Ridley Scott, Roger Corman, Friedkin, Bogdanovich, and an entire generation of film school grads.

Oliver Stone just wrote the screenplay adapted from the original made in the 30´s and directed by Howard Hawks starring Paul Muni as ´´Scarface´´. This one is directed by Brian De Palma. That´s why the film is dedicated to Hawks. Cubans complained for being depicted as delincuents. So, when De Palma and Pacino repeated the team in ´´Carlito´s way´´; there was an introductory note that warned the audience : ´´We are aware that most portoricans are hardworking and honest people. This film is about a small group of individuals´´

"You wanna play rough? Okay. Say hello to my little friend!" Fun Fact: The band Blink-182 took their name from the number of times Tony Montana (Al Pacino) says the word "fuck" in the movie. What Script Fact: Tony Montana uses "yeyo" as slang for cocaine. Al Pacino learned the word while learning the Cuban accent and ad-libbed it during the chainsaw scene. Brian De Palma liked it enough to keep using it throughout the film. Automobile Enthusiast Fact: Omar's (F. Murray Abraham) car is a 1983 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. During the failed assassination attempt in New York, Tony (Al Pacino) drives a 1983 Ford LTD Country Squire. Tony drives a 1968 Chevrolet Impala convertible [16467] during the drug deal gone bad. Gun Enthusiast Fact: Tony's (Al Pacino) "little friend" is an M16 with an M203 40mm grenade launcher attached to the barrel. All the firearms were equipped with electronic synchronising devices so that they would only fire when the camera shutter was open. The result was that the muzzle flashes are much more visible and consistent than in most films. MPAA Hacks Fact: When director Brian De Palma submitted the film to the MPAA, they gave it an X rating. He then made some cuts and resubmitted it a second time; again the film was given an X rating (one of the reasons apparently being that Octavio The Clown (Wayne Doba) was shot too many times). He yet again made some further cuts and submitted it a third time; yet again it was given the same rating. De Palma refused to cut the film any further to qualify it for an R rating. He and producer Martin Bregman arranged a hearing with the MPAA. They brought in a panel of experts, including real narcotics officers, who stated that not only was the film an accurate portrayal of real life in the drug underworld, but ultimately it was an anti-drug film and should be widely seen. This convinced the arbitrators that the third submitted cut of the film deserved an R rating by a vote of 18-2. However, De Palma surmised that if the third cut of the film was judged an R rating, then the very first cut should have been an R rating as well, to which the MPAA disagreed. However, since he believed the studio execs wouldn't know the differences between the different cuts that had been submitted, De Palma released the first cut of the film to cinemas anyway, confessing to the fact only after its home video was released several months later.

If you think about it, the one person who suffers most in this story is Tony's mom. She already lost her only son awhile ago, to the life of crime he chose to lead, so he's dead to her before he actually dies. That same thing ends up causing the death of her only daughter, Gina, for getting too close to Tony and his right hand man/her husband. In the end, she's left with no one. It's tragedy all around Also interesting to note that the one instance we see where Tony has a healthy conscience, it's what ultimately leads to his demise. To be fair, he would've died anyway sooner or later with the way he was falling apart. Only maybe it would've just been him, while Gina & Manny would've been spared

When you have a man as Antonio Montana with a neon sign expressing 'The World Is Yours', that is some serious stuff. 42 years later, this film still holds up as a gripping and fast paced cautionary tale, when pursing and attaining too much material status can suffocate one's self into an inescapable darkness. Fantastic film nonetheless. I hope you guys watch the films, The French Connection (1971) and The Conversation (1974). Highly recommend them both if you two haven't seen them already.

Think the point of the movie is to not want to be like him 😂😉

One of the all time great Gangster films that has influenced so many that came after and been parodied about as often as well Brian DePalma is one of my favorite directors and he does such a great job of building the story and achieving such high levels of suspense throughout . Amazing score by Giorgio Moroder elevates this even further . And what else can said it's just a stellar cast with Al Pacino in one of his most notorious roles ... a powerhouse performance as SCARFACE TONY MONTANA ! he has said it's one of his personal favorites that he's portrayed onscreen . i do a Tony Montana impression as well 😄 🎤 what an awesome way to start the New Year with a reaction to a great movie from the always lovely Michelle and Natalie . CHEERS .

Scarface was my first Al Pacino movie! 😎 This might be a hot take, but I think Al Pacino’s Tony Montana is the stand out role in his career over his Michael Corleone in the Godfather. The Godfather is the best trilogy of all time not denying that, but I associate the Godfather more with Marlon Brando the OG Don Corleone even though he was only in the first movie. When I hear Al Pacino I always think Scarface. I also love the Miami vibes in the 80s such an interesting era with Scarface and Miami Vice.

yes I would give it 5/5 it's a perfect film in its genre, I don't see any mistakes, Al Pacino really seems like a criminal. The success it had in the past was huge, from what I heard the crime rate had even increased for a period after this film. It's true the soundtracks are epic, in fact in the videogame GTA 3 all the songs from the film are included in the car radio. Brian De Palma made two masterpieces of Al Pacino, this film and Carlito's Way...Even today I still think these are 2 of his best films

She broke in laughter because Pacino improvised the hat bit, but they still kept it in the movie. Oliver Stone wrote the screenplay, this was directed by Brian DePalma (who also directed the 70's version of Carrie, Blow Out, Dressed To Kill, The Untouchables & Carlito's Way)

I have been following your videos from Hungary for long time now, ladies. :) I like your reviews, the way you're speaking about the movies, either summarizing them or going into details and snipets. 😊 Keep going putting up videos. May I recommend, once more, two of my fav movies? The one is Dead Calm from 80's with young Nicole Kidman, the other is Risky Business with young Tom Cruise and Rebecca De Mornay. :)

1. The first time I saw this was in a Nightclub (during the day for lunch) in Olongapo City in the PI. Hooked immediately!😎 2. Steven Bauer/Manny is the only true Cuban in the main cast. 3. Miami didn't want this filmed there because it would make the City look bad. Most outside scenes were filmed in LA. 4. Tony was the "Bad Guy", but he kept his word, except when he killed Manny, "I never kill anyone that didn't have it coming". 5. A great Al Pacino movie you might like is, "Dog Day Afternoon". Personal comment, Castro's now room temperature, but "Grandpa Joe" was inviting EVERYBODY into the USA now with the same resultsX10.😭

For another take on 'money laundering' I would suggest checking out a scene from the stylish 1996 crime drama Bound. I actually haven't seen Scarface in quite a while either; may have to check out the whole thing. Great upload. Oh, this is Brian DePalma directing, and the nod to Howard Hawks and Ben Hecht is the director and screenwriter of the 1932 original.
