For a silly spoof movie, I always felt that this was actually a legit good twist ending. Edit: Since people keep bringing this up, I know it's a parody of The Usual Suspects. The reason why it's a good twist ending is because nobody who watched the film expected Doofy to be the killer who was only posing as a mentally challenged man the entire time. His complete "transformation" really drives it home which I felt was actually more visually jarring than Kevin Spacey's more subtle transformation from Verbal Kent to Kyser Soze as the "Doofy" actor somehow managed to look like a completely different person simply by changing his physical mannerisms

That's why the Wayans Bros are legends. In the movie Scream, they did have scenes where Dewey was giving Sydney like weird and creepy smirking, almost making it look like he could be the killer but not quite. With the Wayans Bros, they actually made a superb plot twisting ending with Doofy as the killer. And they did with following a cross between Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, storyline cross. Geniuses. I like how even though this movie was pure comedy, they manage throw a little, Mystery in there. Same in part 2, pure comedy but threw some Horror into the pot with a couple of jump scares, with the clown under the bed, and the mistress killing the Professor.

For Scream, it makes fun of the horror slasher genre in general. Making references throughout the film along with commentary regarding how silly many of the major tropes of the genre are. Scary movie is highlighting specific tropes for specific films. For example, the intro to Scary Movie was mocking the intro to the original Scream, using specific references to the one movie itself, as opposed to the horror genre as a wide scope. Another example is Watchmen, it was a satire because it was mocking superhero tropes generally throughout the book, while the film Superhero Movie made light of specific scenes from specific superhero films, making it a parody. Another thing is that parodies always use humor to make commentary, satires can use humor but it isn't a necessity. Parodies have to be funny to make effective commentary, satires don't and they have more freedom to take different approaches for said commentary. So, not all satires are comedies, but parodies are.
