Their houses are made from paper mache and it's easy to be expansive without much building material. That's also why tornadoes are a huge problem there or why in american action movies bullets go through walls. They use neither bricks, nor concrete, nor iron. It becomes very cheap and they can build larger houses with the same amount of money basically.
