This song was my family's theme song for when we moved to Africa in 2001. I was only seven yet i had a good understanding about what was going on. Despite being so young in my life and in my faith, I was still very scared and uncertain of what God had in store for me. I listened to this on repeat the night before my family started our next great adventure. It encouraged me to rely solely on God and put all of my trust in Him, whether I was happy with what was going on or not. Our life is not our own, and this song emphasizes our need to be faithful and allow Gods will to be done in our lives. We lived in Africa for ten years, and God received all the glory for the work that was done there.

Many years ago when my daughter Gen was a little girl I was going through a painful trial, I was tired and worn out and one afternoon I played this cd in our livingroom and was overwhelmed with the Spirit of God. I started dancing in the livingroom and Gen joined in and we danced, spinning and turning, raising our hands and raising our arms singing ♫ ♪ the song together. I'll never forget it, that moment was a new beginning for me. ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ Sharing it with my daughter made it all the more special. I still dance to this song, we are never too old to dance. Thank You Jesus.

Used to listen to this as a kid and I loved it! It was one of the songs you never forget. God reminded me today! He was like your life is about to change for the better. I'm going on a weight loss journey. Whenever I feel like giving up I'm going to listen to this. It really lifts my spirit up. I no longer follow the religion of Christianity. I even joined the Catholic Church in 2011. But I realized I could be spiritual and connected to God still and that I dont need a church. It's been a freeing experience for me. So even though I dont follow it I've always loved Stevens music. It really impacts my life in a positive way. Because it brings me back to my childhood a time before bad things happened. I hold tightly to that its the only way for me to get through it all.

I had this song on a mix tape when I was little and I would wait in anticipation for this song to come on. I listened to that tape so many times, I memorized the order. Sometimes I would get out of my bed and start dancing like crazy. It has other fun songs, but I don't remember them anymore. Today, this melody was stuck in my head. I came to go to bed and I finally remembered what it was! Hah. Just thought I'd share. c:

Fast forward to 2021 and Ive recently rekindled the love for the album.

The long awaited rains Have fallen hard upon the thirsty ground And carved their way to where The wild and rushing river can be found And like the rains I have been carried here to where the river flows, Yeah My heart is racing and my knees are weak As I walk to the edge I know there is no turning back Once my feet have left the ledge And in the rush I hear a voice That's telling me it's time to take the leap of faith So here, I go I'm diving in, I'm going deep in over my head, I want to be Caught in the rush, lost in the flow, in over my head, I want to go The river's deep, the river's wide, the river's water is alive So sink or swim, I'm diving in There is a supernatural power In this mighty river's flow It can bring the dead to life And it can fill an empty soul And give a heart the only thing Worth living and worth dying for, yeah But we will never know the awesome power Of the grace of God Until we let ourselves get swept away Into this holy flood So if you'll take my hand We'll close our eyes and count to three And take the leap of faith Come on let's go I'm diving in, I'm going deep in over my head, I want to be Caught in the rush, lost in the flow, in over my head, I want to go The river's deep, the river's wide, the river's water is alive So sink or swim, I'm diving in I'm diving in I'm diving in I'm diving in I'm diving in, I'm going deep in over my head, I want to be Caught in the rush, lost in the flow, in over my head, I want to go The river's deep, the river's wide, the river's water is alive So sink or swim, I'm diving in I'm diving in, I'm going deep in over my head, I want to be Caught in the rush, lost in the flow, in over my head, I want to go The river's deep, the river's wide, the river's water is alive So sink or swim, I'm diving in So sink or swim, I'm diving in So sink or swim, I'm diving in I'm diving in I'm diving in I'm diving in I'm diving in I'm diving in I'm diving in

Wow---this brings back memories!!! I am 61 now---I was working with the Youth Dept in our church, my sons' were in the youth--one a 9th grader and on a senior--our Youth Director loved this song!!!! My boys now are 40 and 36. How time flies!!!! I too, love this song--with Christ you have to dive in---took me a long time to learn that --but it is the only way!!!

This song is about diving into your faith in "Gods Awesome Power" fully. The long awaited rains have fallen hard upon the thirsty ground ... is God calling us to where His rushing river can be found. We are thirsting for him and in need of His living water. Gods river is deep and wide and the water is alive! His water will fill you with all you will ever need if you let His river flow overhead and rush to fill your very soul. So let us dive in and get swept away into his Holy flood!!
