The motivations of Doc Ock and the Goblin aren't as flat as you think. They represent thematic opposites to Peter's development. SP1 is about 2 people using their newfound power for completely different reasons. Peter to help those in need, and Norman to get revenge. The Goblin is like a pure villanous force who believes that great power should be used to get what you want. He successfully convinces Norman about this, and unsuccessfully convinces Peter, who's conviction to his uncle's words remains strong. Octavius wanting to rebuild the sun machine doesn't seem to make a lot of sense on its face, but makes more sense when you realize that the AI in the arms have the sole purpose of successfully completing the experiment, and that they're in control of him for most of the movie. Before the accident, Otto tells Peter that intelligence is a gift to be used "for the good of mankind", which is sort of a rewording of "with great power". This moral is pushed to the wayside when the arms take control, and Peter, unable to handle the effect being spider man has on his personal life, starts to reject it too. He comes back around just in time to save the day, and Ock does too, but only when it's too late, so he has to sacrifice himself. These villains are better written than what you give them credit for.

Sam remi wasn't written into a corner by himself, he was written into a corner by the Studio. Sony wanted Venom, but Remi wanted to hold that off for another movie and focus on Harry and sandman (or the vulture), but Sony said "no you're putting Venom in now and maybe we'll talk about a 4th". This was before the MCU so anything beyond a trilogy was considered risky, and yet Sony wanted that easily marketable Venom merch in Stores. Remi hated this and resented Venom being in the movie to at least some degree. this is what the movie is cobbled together because it's 2 movies worth of plot in one.

@gota7738 Жыл бұрын
No not really, not at all. He's kind of a straight up tragic villain stuck between needing to be like his dad and not actually wanting to be like his dad, and so blames Spider-man for framing Norman and murdering him and Gwen. Like he's more subtle, in that he fucks with Peter by sending him ominous empty boxes and just flying around him cheerfully knowing Peter can't attack him out of his suit, but like Norman kills people a lot. Ok yes, there was the LMD parents plan which was kind of fucked up and honestly ruined the subtlety thing going on, but that's still tame compared to Norman doing the Clone Saga and killing Peter and MJ's baby.

Ok fine there was the Kindred thing but that same story had him do it under the influence of Mephisto after Norman sold his soul so that can join Sins Past in one big "didn't happen" bin as far as I'm concerned.

I actually looked up why mj was captured at the end of Spider-Man 3 and here is what I found. “ Kirsten Dunst only agreed to reprise her role in the third film on the condition that Mary Jane would not end up as the Damsel in Distress. Executives agreed. MJ was originally going to have a more proactive role in the film's climax (Gwen was going to be the damsel while MJ would be the one to talk Harry into helping and forgiving Peter; her lines from this scene remained in the trailer). When the plans changed, they made sure MJ was an Action Survivor during this particular distress as means of making it up to an upset Dunst. Throwing a cinderblock at Venom was thrown in, they let her jump and swing on hanging webs herself before needing to ultimately get saved, and any of MJ's screams during the scene (Peter's too, for that matter) were recycled audio. On the audio commentary, Raimi tells a rough story of coming to the process that in order to finish the movie on time, they had to put MJ in danger, which not only angered himself for reneging on his promise to Dunst before production started that he wouldn't, but that summoning the courage to tell her was one of the hardest things he's ever done in his long time in the business.”

I dont know how the Symbiote works in the comics but it felt like it grew stronger from hatred in this movie. Which is why it influenced Peter, but didnt turn him into a full on murder machine like with Eddie who was just pure hatred by that point. Unfortunately the movie had to be PG13 so Raime couldn't give him the crazy violent scenes he so desperately needed.

"Kirsten Dunst agreed to do the third film with the condition that Mary Jane did not serve as a damsel in distress in the third act. This was agreed upon by executives and Sam Raimi; originally the climax involved Eddie Brock kidnapping Gwen Stacy and holding her hostage, as he was sure that Peter was in love with Gwen. Mary Jane still played a big part in the climax with her most notable cut scene: Mary Jane went to Harry and made a passionate speech about forgiveness, prompting him to go and help Peter. This scene was filmed, and some of the dialogue can be heard in the trailers (”We’ve all done terrible things to each other, but we have to forgive each other. I am so grateful to be alive today. My girlfriend saved my life last night. This is a selfie I took in the emergency room after having a severe allergic reaction to almonds. I went into anaphylaxis, meaning my face, my lips, my eyes, my tongue, and my throat all started swelling up rapidly, making it almost impossible for me to breathe. I also had a rash all over my entire body, and I was extremely red. Staying alive had never felt more difficult. At one point, my nasal passage was completely blocked, and it was getting more and more difficult to breathe. They shot me up with Benadryl, steroids, they gave me a breathing tube, and even other stuff that I can’t even remember, and it caused all of the swelling and the rash to go away. Because this was a severe allergic reaction, I need to continue taking steroids and Benadryl for the next week, because it is possible that the allergic reactions could come back at any point over the next week. The steroids and Benadryl make me feel like a zombie, and I really want to take care of my health, so this will be my main focus over the next week. I want to thank my amazing girlfriend, who made the decision to take me to the emergency room the second I started feeling itchy. I was hesitant about going, because I didn’t even want to believe this was actually happening. If it weren’t for my girlfriend driving me to the emergency room only minutes after eating the almonds, there is a good chance that I wouldn’t have made it according to the doctor. This has been without a doubt the hardest few days of my life, but I also look at them as the most important few days of my life. These moments have reminded me about what’s really important in life, and it has made me so grateful to even be here on this earth. I will be prioritizing my health over the next week, and I’ll post updates about how I feel. Thank you all for being patient during these difficult times. I don't find spider man 2 drastically better than 1 or 3; in fact, I rate all 3 movies rather similarly. They're all great films. And I unironically think Spider-Man 2 is easily the cheesiest, most resembling the "2000s", in the Raimi trilogy.

Probably the only reason the CGI look worse during the first aerial battle is because neither character is a full CG model, rather they're being added onto a green screen background as they are. I agree it looks janky, but it's still impressive to a degree.

Unpopular opinion: I LOVE the designs of the Raimi villains, especially Green and New Goblins. I think they are a realistic version of their cartoon counterparts.

I agree with you on Harry but Green is just a power ranger. Not bad, it fits the movie, but I wouldn't argue that he's realistic (still funny doe).
@tlomofficial5 жыл бұрын
@@JeithKarrett youre right about Green Goblin, I think it's pretty much the mask though that ruins it, there's some sort of metal wire that goes across the arms of the suit I would think are something cybernetic making his punches more powerful. And his glider it's awesome Harry's didn't have fucking rockets.
@rexsears30045 жыл бұрын
I actually think the problem isn't the mask, it's the rest of the suit. It's all the exact same color, same metallic sheen, same texturing, and it doesn't make any sense when compared to all the more realistic designs in those movies. I can buy that a mask aficionado like Norman would make such a weird helmet, but not that the military would actually fund a suit that looks so dumb.
@tlomofficial5 жыл бұрын
@@rexsears3004 I kinda agree I don't find it that bad imo but I agree it could be colored better but most greens to me are ugly I'm talking about loving the design of it not really the color. And I have a fetish (not really) for metal armor akin to a knight but that's me.

The "dumb-ness" of the trilogy was always intentional. Raimi was a big comic book fan and wanted to recapture the sillynes of the early ones. That's one of the many things great about the original trilogy (yes, even 3. Easily the weakest but still not bad). PS: Spider Man 3 > Any of the Amazing Spider-Man movies.

I feel like the problems you mentioned about harry and sandman where due to the executive interference of Sony/trying to force venom into it last minute which lead to a lot of their stories either being cut or forced to rework it. If raimi was allowed to make it his way I think their stories would have been handled better. Also, what you mentioned on the reworking of uncle bens death, I think it’s part of sandman’s character “I’m not a bad man I just have bad luck” . He’s a decent man that just has horrible luck or always ends up making a wrong decision so the idea of him messing things up and ending up killing a man works for me. Also he is no where as bad as the diamonds, he regretted the things he did & wished he could take them back while they went from not caring to boom, good guys
