Nice plants from Jim. The Rudbeckia is R. 'Herbstsonne'. The German word Herbst translates into English as Autumn, and Sonne becomes Sun. I believe that R. 'Autumn Sun' is an accepted pseudonym for the plant.

Hi there, thanks so much for sharing that, this is a new one to me and I love learning about the plants going into the garden. Autumn Sun is certainly an easier name to remember! Thanks again🌿

While I can only guess at the problems with the alpina, I grew two dozen from seed, every time I potted them up I lost half and I can only think it was because I was disturbing the roots, which would worry me about repotting up yours. As long as yours had be outside in a pot in a similar location for a while then I dont see many other reasons why I would struggle, hopefully its just sulking and plenty of sun and water will pick it up again. thanks for the content!

Thanks so much for sharing this. An aversion to root disturbance would make sense as it only started dropping like that when I moved it out of its container, and indeed the container was just a couple yards from where the alpina is now planted. Hopefully it will spring back after it’s sulk. Thanks again 😊

I got my Mac from Crug, this time last year...overwintered in greenhouse and just back out in the garden and it has doubled in size... I feed mine Weetabix !
@tropiclaud8 ай бұрын
I’m terrible at detecting metaphors- like, actual weetabix or is that some new organic feed I’m yet to hear about?😂 The growth rate sounds awesome! Have you got it in any particular compost mix at all? Thanks for sharing!
@spaceprophecy34588 ай бұрын
@@tropiclaud Its just me being silly! Mine is still in the pot from Crug Farm, so I guess same as yours. Next year it will go inthe ground with a load of farmyard manure mixed in and fed seaweed.

I had the same problem with milianthus major this winter lost 4 definitely the wet winter for me the roots rotted. Great plant though I’ve already got 2 replacements my wife brushes them every time she walks past. 👍🏽👍🏽

Sorry you lost yours too, but glad you’ve replaced it. It was a no brainer for me. Relatively cheap to source and such a big-impact plant! Maybe one to protect next winter?

Beautiful!! We have the same red phormium.. not sure of the name.. But, very beautiful, indeed!! I live in France, zone 8b, and I am always so in awe and inspired by all of the UK tropical gardens I have watched on youtube! My sage/salvia hot lips, and the purple ones, have definitely gotten very bushy over the past 2 years they have been planted..

Hello there! I believe you are referring to the Cordyline Charlie Boy, what a showstopper! I’d like a second one, gives that colour all year round. Thank you for the heads up on your salvia, yes I’ll keep it in a pot for now for that reason. Growing tropical plants in the UK is so very rewarding. We get the Summer warmth and enough rain to keep the plants lush. Winter is a risky time, but we recover and go again! 🌿❤️

You lucky thing, can't believe you got that schefflera. I'm looking out for one a while now. Surprised the melianthus didn't come back. I thought mine would not survive as it was in full sun but exposed all winter without protection 🤔
@tropiclaud8 ай бұрын
I believe Crug Farm Plants to be the main place to go for the macrophylla, I hope you find one! I just want to make sure I keep it alive🙌 The melianthus has surprised me, I did cut the stem after the winter had taken its toll but I may have chopped back too hard perhaps? I don’t know! But I’m going to try again with this new bunch. Hope all is well in your garden 🌿❤️

Hey Claud hows the macrophylla doing?
@tropiclaud5 ай бұрын
@@Us_and_themm Hey there! Thank you for checking in! It’s doing really well, you can glimpse it in this short kzbin.info3z7wZmsdmUE?si=Ux_cfyLDRWY-KXox but I hope to do a fuller update tour soon. I still have it in a pot and it’s happy in dappled shade. I’ll be bringing it in as soon as the temp dips!
