I used this drain on my custom sauna/shower install. It was great 👍

I'm nervous that the mortar isn't going to hold drain in place, we had to push down about 1/8" and have placed a heavy bucket on it. Is there another adhesive we can use or even screw with washer that we can use to make sure the drain doesn't pop up in a year?
@schlutersystems12 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen, as long as the drain is in the correct place when the mortar dries and the substrate is adequate, the assembly should not move. However, if there is too much upward pressure on the drain from the plumbing below because it was not secured properly or the cut section of pipe to connect the odor trap to the drain is too long, it may make it difficult to keep the drain in the right position while the mortar dries. A little weight could help with that, as you figured out. Although it should not cause the drain to pop up over time, it is important prior to installing the drain to secure the pipe below and use the correct length of connector pipe. The substrate must be load bearing to keep the assembly from moving at some point. All of these steps done correctly will ensure the drain does not move within the tile assembly at any point. Please give our Customer Support team a call if you'd like to discuss your project in more detail. 800-472-4588 (US) 800-667-8746 (Canada) Hope this helps! Thanks~

Is the drain able to be levelled if it’s off a little? I noticed screw holes on the perimeter of the drain.

Hi there! The drain needs to be leveled during installation and unfortunately there is no way to level it once the mortar supporting it has cured. Hope this helps!

How much room is required for the drain to stick down below the floor? What about roughed-in pipes sticking out of a concrete floor? How high should the raised shower pan be?

After you detach the template from the Kerdi shower base, its used as a spacer to determine the gap between the subfloor and the Kerdi drain- both sides of the template are back buttered and inserted. obviously there is a space between the gaps to get that thinset in... how much space is that? 1/8" top and bottom, 1/4"... how much space? Thanks!
@schlutersystems1 Жыл бұрын
Hi Gavin, no extra space is needed. The drain is connected to the pipe with the flange basically tight to the spacer. There may naturally be 1/16" or so, but no need to add any extra space. Any excess thin-set will squeeze out. See video at 2:00 though 2:50 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqiYh32ZodSleLs

I dont understand why you couldnt just install the drain after the tray? You would still have access to measure and cut a piece of pipe or am i missing something?
@schlutersystems1 Жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel! Yes, you can definitely install the tray first if you want. This is particularly showing a situation where a plumber would come in and install the drain prior to a tile installer coming in to install the tray and other shower components.

After gluing and installing my flange. There was a 1/4 inch gap between the foam donut and flange. Is that ok?
@schlutersystems19 ай бұрын
I would recommend you give our Product Support team a call to discuss your project in more detail: 888-472-4588 (US) or 800-667-8746 (Canada). The shower floor needs to slope continuously toward the centre of the drain. If your flange is a 1/4" higher than the centre of the tray, the water will not drain properly. There are some options to help you, but a proper discussion would be important. Hope this helps!

Is the schluter drain plastic abs or pvc?
@schlutersystems14 ай бұрын
Hi there! We have a few drain options, here’s the scoop: The KERDI-DRAIN bonding flange is available in ABS, PVC, or stainless steel. And the grate is available in stainless steel or anodized aluminum. The KERDI-LINE linear drain is available in stainless steel. KERDI-LINE-VARIO and KERDI-DRAIN-F bonding flanges are made of polypropylene and come with both an ABS and a PVC coupling. You can check out all the drain options on our website - just type in the name of the drain in the Search bar in the top right hand corner: www.schluter.com/schluter-us/en_US/

hi,i have a cast iron pipe drain will this drain works?
@schlutersystems1 Жыл бұрын
Hey, The KERDI-DRAIN can usually be connected by using a Fernco or different appropriate coupler. However, we recommend checking with a plumbing expert for the exact recommendation of how to make the connection in your particular application.

They never tell you what size ABS pipe to use, and its not in the pamphlet that come with everything, what size ABS is being used here? 2 inch is too big 1 1/2 is too small, so what size pipe is used?
@schlutersystems13 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathan, the 2" KERDI-DRAIN fits a 2" pipe. The inside dimension (ID) of the drain outlet is the same size as the outside dimension (OD) of a 2" pipe, 2.375. Hope that helps!

@@schlutersystems1 Are the dimensions you provided for black PVC waste line or for white PVC? The dimensions are slightly different? I believe you now offer seperate drain kits for black pvc and white pvc drain lines. Can you provide the item number of each? Thank you.

Is that all purpose glue?
@schlutersystems13 ай бұрын
Hi Chip, we used ABS glue for connecting the ABS drain to the ABS pipe, but you would use PVC glue to connect a PVC drain to a PVC pipe.

where did you get the pipe that you installed to fit into kerdi drain and the odor pipe below?
@schlutersystems12 жыл бұрын
Hi Raymond, you can get a piece of ABS or PVC pipe to match your KERDI-DRAIN and odor trap at a local plumbing store, hardware store or big box store.

What about no access with cast iron pipe?

Hello! A Fernco fitting should work fine in that case, however, we recommend verifying these types of plumbing questions a with a local plumber or plumbing house before installation. Hope that helps.

More time spent on how to glue plumbing than the actual kerdi installation... But nothing regarding where the attention should be put installing the drain, tight with the foam, little loose, how much clearance for cement etc... If I needed a tuto on how to glue ABS pipe I'm sure I could find one... To the point that you do not even show the install of the kerdi itself... Seriously?? 😅

Hi there! In this video, we are giving you 2 scenarios for when you have to install a drain with no access. One, is how to install the drain when using a shower tray and thin-set, and the other is showing how to install the drain when using a mortar bed. It’s the same application, just different options depending on your scenario. Hope this helps!
