This sort of crazy oversharing on the internet is repulsive. Do you ride on public buses naked, as well?

I approve (much of) this message! 😄 The issue of paying close attention to behavior during "trifling" moments is the most resonant idea for me. I am skeptical about the authenticity of anyone's behavior when it seems obvious that they are motivated to impress or manipulate someone. It's during the fleeting encounter with the stranger or someone who does not obviously seem to be a source of advantage or threat that I think someone shows their character most truthfully, because they are responding primarily to the person instead of to what the person might represent. Attentive kindness and respect toward those who might seem unremarkable, without any obvious power, beauty or charisma seems to me to be signs of good character.

Well well put. I am old and on the way out and just now learning a substancial amount about the common herd of people. It is like they have been letting me down all this time and am learning that people do show themselves to be less that the people I expect them to be. But I do appreciate the good in some people when I see it.
@yazanasad78113 ай бұрын
People' badness are hidden, obviously it wont be shown like a bad character. They can be excellent at mimeckery and flattery. Also, short time youll get halo effect. (Virtuous people are less selfish and therefore less worldly wise because expect other people to be unselfish). Takes time to learn this Judge people by how they treat the secretary and not the interviewer(when there is nothing at stake) This is why leaders use fear because most people cannot be relied on with like virtues, justice, fairness, etc. Self-interest To forgive and to forget is to throw away deeply bought experience See humans as unalterable minerals, collect what is expected. In civilised countries they deceive one other. In poorer countries they eat one another All war is robbery

Very helpful content. I recently got back into a relationship with a woman who i had been no contact with for 2 years. She persued me both times. One month in and she is on the same bullshit that caused the initial breakup 2 years ago. I feel shcopenhauer is speaking directly to me here.

02:45 Making a judgement on anothers ability based your own abilities or perception.... For a couple decades, I haved called that the "Third Base Coach" syndrome. Picture this: You're the third base coach, a teammate is on second, a very large fellow, and a long fly ball is hit to the outfield. He starts to run towards third base and I'm already waving him home. Why? 'Cause in that split second I estimated running and fielder ball return based on my abilities (fast runner, but shoulder torn in lil league, thus shitty thrower).... Outfielder had a rocket arm. My portly teammate got thrown out and tagged before even reaching third base... Yah, bad call that day.

The key point is that the average people are always duplicitous and double faced , regarding their own propensity for deceit as a sign of intelligence rather than that of a base character. In fact , the tendency to camouflage oneself under some misleading guise has to do with the survival instinct that both humans and animals share and has nothing to do with a higher type of intelligence or a higher level of consciousness as they tend to argue.Women in general are more capable of deceit than men precisely because of the same survival instinct which becomes stronger when motherhood is involved. The biological function from which that instinct derives is forcing them into that direction , apart from the need to compensate their fragility and weaknesses with cunningness . The weak is always shrewd and more equipped for facing life difficulties than a person of noble character.The lower type of consciousness is generally concentrated more on reproduction and copulation like for example insects in the animal realm .Among some humans we may find the same tendency .This explains why humans with a fine character are so scarce .Eating and copulating are therefore the most cherished activities for 90% of the population with an increased percentage in those areas were the population explodes like Africa , Asia etc , places where the general impression is that the favorite pastime with very few exceptions is gaming or beating the drum, hence the level of education.However , precisely because of the activities of gaming and beating the drum they can succeed in life and survive since those are based upon and can be used for deceit. These are their strengths whereas a noble character is often seen as naive and therefore weak.I can remember in relation to this one relevant line from " Lawrence of Arabia" , a reference that was taken from a very old quotation dictionary by the script writer :"I cannot fiddle but I can make a great state from a little city ."

I love the philosophy and the practical nature of it. However, it sounds like character is static from birth to death. Can a person change their character with concerted effort, hopefully for the better? Or is a person's character the same from birth to death? What about learned behavior? Can a person born with a noble character learn bad behavior then realize the error in judgment and return back to the noble character? And vice versa, can a person born with a bad character (which does not sound right in any event), learn to be of noble character? This I wonder ....
