Next will be China who is poking everyone and if someone pushes back, they will be made the villain, they occupied HK and no one said a word... UN is one of the most useless organizations out there..

This is a perfect example of postmodernist morality. Acting as if the issue is too complex to understand, that there is no clear line between the victim and the murderer, as if both sides have a just cause. Add to that the Westernized view on ''outside conflicts'', as if the ''other'' live in a bubble of subjectivity and we can see things objectively, yet again, from an objective perspective, we still can't decide who is on the right. This shows that the West has lost its moral compass and the moral high ground that it stands on when ''teaching'' the world what is right and what is wrong. If you use your brain for 5 minutes you will see that the Jewish issue is created in the West, that anti-zionism does not equal anti-semitism, and that Israel is a state of evil that is built on a history full of massacres, racism, apartheid, displacement, and war crimes.

I appreciate the attempt to have a measured and even look at this issue. One thing I think you're unaware of is that the West Bank has multiple militant groups who also conduct terrorist acts on Israel and the IDF, and Hamas has many ties financially and in all other ways to these militant groups. The whole reason why they have a presence in the West Bank and in Gaza pre-2006 was because Fatah/PLO literally said they are unable to control the militant groups in their areas, and any time they are given equipment to fight the militants in their own areas the equipment ends up in the hands of the militant groups. Killing or arresting everyone in the militant groups supposedly "creates new terrorists" if you believe that trope. But essentially many of the things progressives are suggesting as solutions has been tried and failed. Even the attempts to shelter the PLO and palestinians in Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt all resulted in those host countries dealing with bombs, coups and other violence against their own people for the crime of trying to host them. (this is the reason egypt doesn't want to open their border to gazans, they would rather they suffer bombings than allow them in.)

@hop208 Жыл бұрын
While true that resolutions were rejected, I doubt Palestinians at the time could have imagined they’d be in a position to be completely at the mercy of the terms written by Israel, while being governed by corrupt ineffectual leaders or extremists who only view you as collateral damage and good suffering optics for the cameras. The current government of Israel is full of far right hardliners that seem more than willing to oblige Hamas in sacrificing the civilian population “for the cause“. Also, Netanyahu purposely derailed peace negotiations in the 90’s and whipped people into a frenzy which led to the assassination of the then Prime Minister of Israel Yitzhak Rabin. As an Israeli I thank you for this video from the bottom of my heart. I’ve been looking for anything remotely objective and could only find propaganda of either side. I’ve spent my life protesting the government I even got arrested for fighting for Palestinian rights but I did feel betrayed by the global “left” who seemed to be going so far left it was already becoming Palestinian “right” or nationalism. My vision for peace is exactly what you guys did. That everyone needs to acknowledge how fucked up everything is and how true both narratives actually are . My moms grandfathers grandfather was murdered by Arabs in 1888 that’s pre-Zionism. I still believe now more than ever in peace. I hope that Palestine will be free- but they have to redefine what Palestine is cuz it can’t abolish Israel. Never gonna happen . I hope one day there will be no countries like Lennon envisioned… Perhaps consider making a similar “both narratives” about the history from 1850s to 1948. Again… it was fucked up in many ways and both narratives are true. I hope that if many people actually educate themselves on both narratives and a balanced view then the next generation can make peace.

Two things missing from this conversation: 1. The British promised Palestine to European Zionists without consulting the Palestinians. These Zionists then moved to Palestine and were originally welcomed by Palestinians. The Zionists then pursued an ethnic cleansing policy to force out the Palestinians. 2. The US supports Israel without any conditions, consistently protecting Israel at the UN from any consequence of their actions. That means Israel has become more brutal over time, using illegal settlement building, apartheid, collective punishment, child imprisonment, imprisonment without charge, chemical weapons (e.g white phosphorus munitons) with impunity. The US and the West must become neutral in the conflict and allow full war crimes investigations into both sides. This is not an equal conflict. Europeans oppressed Jews, not Palestinians. Both sides must face international law.

This is a great conversation, much much needed empathy which is greatly appreciated. Speaking personally, I had no opinions or feelings on this conflict until October 7th, and since then, I have done a tiny bit research on it, and while I still don't take one side over the other unilaterally because it's important to never forgo my right to change my mind given new evidence, information, or perspectives, I must say in response to your final statement that you called for a ceasefire that I was in full agreement with you until I found out less than a week ago that they were in a ceasefire since June or July of this year until October 7th. Maybe that changes things, that's all.

a ceasefire would stop the killings of innocent Palestinians. More than 20,000 are already dead. What more can you possibly want? An observation that I have made is that when you attack someone using tanks, helicopters and nukes media calls it automatically a war like in Ukraine, Afghanistan and Vietnam. The first question that arises is always, who is the good and who is the bad guy. But when you don’t have tanks and helicopters, just sticks and stones and you need to fight for your interests, it’s automatically called terror. And we never ask if it’s good or bad for obvious reasons. That’s since 9/11. our society would have called Che Guevara and Nelson Mandela terrorists too by todays standards.

I generally appreciate nuance when it comes to discussing sensitive issue, but I feel like their take here was carefully worded to avoid upsetting the Jews, specifically those pro-Israel. They went on and on about the anti-Semitism, the 1000+ lives lost on Oct 7th, the atrocities of Hamas, etc. and while those points are completely valid, they barely touched on the absolute bloodbath Palestinians are facing. Over 10,000 of them have been killed (the VAST majority of which were not Hamas), but they didn't mention that number. They kept speaking in the passive voice too, like 'Palestinians are being killed, being ripped out of their homes', not verbalising that Israel is doing it. Israel is bombing hospitals, schools, homes, shelters, and they will not agree to a ceasefire even for the return of their hostages. This is not a complicated, nuanced issue. I have sympathy for innocent civilian suffering on both sides, but it is very clear who is suffering more. It's a shame that so few people in the limelight are willing to take a strong stance on this genocide, but it's understandable. A lot of pro-Israel Jewish people run the media, and the threat of losing your career over a strongly anti-Israel take is very real.

Sorry to say but this is the typical one sided opinion, a great example for what they were discussing in the video. You should watch this video every day for several days until you get the point. From your point of view what you're saying is true but it's so one-sided as a bird with just one wing. Thus from the whole situation's point it's completely untrue. Meaning it doesn't help a thin hairpin to move closer to a solution, a complete and final stop to this 'tit for tat' fight. That meant you couldn't do things like ride a horse (back then, that was like being banned from traveling in a vehicle), they couldn't build new synagogues and they had to wear special clothes and symbols to show they weren't Muslims. This didn't start on October 7th!! Talking to "your friends" isn't educating yourself on the situation. This has been going on for 76 years. As a Palestinian, I am so unbelievably disappointed with this clip. Thank you for your comment.

1:15 that’s such a respectable line. I myself try and stay silent on issues until I do my own research and understand the truth. Many people talk out of their ass and spew out hateful rhetoric. I’ve done it in the past myself, and I’m not proud of it. We need more intellectual conversations and understanding of complex situations such as this!

Andrew, love the middleman perspective, but as a European that live with a huge influx of immigrants from the middleeast, very simply put, the palestinian perspective you quoting, its very rare, all over Europe jews are hated on, anti-semitism is openly accepted by and from immigrants. The truth is, what Israel is experiencing today, is Europe in 50 years, might be America in a 100. So its simply put, are we for humanitarian secular democracy or Islamic Theocracy?

but anti-Semitism has been a common feature of European social life long before the recent influx of immigrants from the middle east.

hate crimes against jews in Europe are statistically far lower than those against muslims

Historically Europe has treated the Jewish population terribly. They experienced relative peace and prosperity across the middle east. But I do agree that unfortunately since the violent inception of Israel, anti Jewish sentiment is more rife in the region as the mood soured over decades of occupation.

It’s good to try to understand what all sides are going through. It’s not ok not to take a clear stand in a topic that many try to say it’s complicated to avoid taking a stand. Ready? Here are are 2 possible solutions: - A 2 state solution as voted for by UN which includes a free, independent Palestinian state on West Bank, Gaza & East Jerusalem(Which represents only 22% of the land for the Palestinians, which is injustice, yet they accepted it. Israel killed this solution by moving 700,000 Israeli settlers to illegal settlements in the West Bank & East Jerusalem. Israel should take back its settlers to make it possible - The second is to have one state on all the land for both the Israelis and the Palestinians on the basis of equal rights. Again, Israel doesn’t accept that as it wants to be a Jewish state If Israel rejects the 2 possibility this means that it expects millions of Palestinians to die, leave their homeland, or accept to live as sub humans in an apartheid state See? Not complicated. It has nothing to do with antisemitism. One side is the occupying oppressor. The other is occupied & oppressed. Take a stand

The arabs in Israel already have equal rights. you can find videos about it on youtube, hundreds of them. i can find some links if u want. so technically we are already in what u call the second solution. maybe fact-check your feelings before expressing them publicly.

this video is perfect for editing and manipulation. it is a perfect video, the only video that I found fair since the beginning of the conflict but it is divided in to parts where it can be edited as if you guys are picking sides.
