I found about this Mozart Sonata from Ivan Turgenev Novel "Father's and Sons" in the scene where Katya played this for Arcady on his visit to her estate where she lived with her sister Sergeevna (who was courting Dr Bazarov) This was nearly 45 mins ago and inspired me to listen to it on You Tube. I liked the song and performed superbly. 🎉 It's amazing how a Russian novel brought me to an Austrian musical piece. And for readers :I am a Pakistani reporting from home town :Lahore. One of the great secrets about this piece is that is is listed as being in C minor but there are no C minor chords until the very end. This is what we call tonic delay in the extreme. How great was Mozart?...don't ask.

I think you make a good point...while I was thinking how special Mr. Schiff plays in his special manner, the tone of the B adds a different dimension to it, likely via his own preferences, although I think opinions would differ amongst listeners.

This is one of those pieces that almost doesn't sound like Mozart to me much of the time. You hear the Mozart sound in the melodic parts but much of the piece is moody, mercurial, slow, and dissonant in a romantic style ahead of it's time. Is it any wonder that every composer who came after Mozart said he was the greatest?

Yes it's lovely, a very refined performance. Having said that, I do prefer the live version by Schiff's contemporary, Zoltan Kocsis, which is so different - 'gutsy' and dramatic, I would say. I'll listen to one or the other, depending on my mood!

You can also find this harmonic motif on Beethoven's "Pathetique" sonata (1st movement) but much more embellished. So basically, "Succesion" is based on Beethoven's "Pathetique" sonata.

@gonzalo46582 жыл бұрын
The beauty about this particular event is the little mistakes in french suites and stuff. It’s more of playing than a “performance”. The word “perform” has a negative connotation. Schiff gives us the most delightful musical moments here, gives us view into his alone playing. It’s a jampack of musical philosophy, sentiment, divinity, and transcendence. It’s what music is. Defined by schiff. That hall defines music just as well, wouldnt be surprised if it was his pick to the cubic inch

What a SHAME is the combination of such a composer, pianist, interpretation, setting, piano, flowers, image and the satanic slavery of the plandemic rags, over the audience faces (starting 4:40)... That will remain a stain on history forever.
