I know "they were dead the whole time" theories are cliche. This was just my best attempt to stitch together some of my favorite shows. This was one of my first videos ever. A couple things from the comments; No I didn't spoil the end of Lost at the end of this video, and I didn't add NewGirl in this theory because Schur had nothing to do with it. That crossover with B99 was awkward and it felt forced anyway. I'm not really sure how that crossover affects this theory, as I've never watched New Girl. Anyway, thanks for watching, and hope you'll check out the rest of my channel.

Dwight’s ought to be an angel then, he sent Kevin, Toby and Stanley to the good place, and when talking to Jan (A demon) about what he would do if in charge, he said get rid of half the people there, AKA the people he thought were redeemed. Not only does actively send people to the good place, but he uses himself as a tool for the others redemption. For example, he tried to get Darryl to stay at DM by playing with him but in the process pushed him away. He also made DM unbearable for Jim, pushing him to help start Athlead. If you look at it in this way you can see that Dwight’s a fantastic angel and friend, and is still helping people in DM as he was made manager

Creed may be a good place angel too. When the downsizing was happening, he urged Michael to fire Devon instead of him. Going along with this theory, it could be because Creed believed Devon had become good enough to be able to go to the good place. Similarly in the episode product recall, his orchestration of the firing of the paper mill employee was because he felt said employee was good enough for the good place. While the fact that in the second episode I mentioned he pocketed the money may throw a wrench in my theory, here's an explanation for that. I love the partial "agent" theory and want to add another explanation. Spoilers ahead for Beginning of S4 b99! The sheriff in b99 (Jerry): The character pulled over Peralta and holt, eventually locking them up to then escape, to make them realize they were at such a low, they needed the 99. (If you don't believe me, in Coral Palms, after they escape they get supplies at a convivence store, and because of the breakout they escape with supplies eventually impaling holt and they realize they did in fact need the 99.) Not only did he do that, he also made jake and amy's relationship better. After the 99 arrives and the arcade thing happened, he comes and gives figgis another shot, eventually having amy shoot jake in the leg. Although this would end most relationships, amy and jake realize that they were meant for each other. Holt also realizes that he can call the 99 whenever, it's not bad to call for help. If Jerry hadn't been an agent, jake and holt would've probably been dead.
@jstar10542 жыл бұрын
Holt being the architect for b99 makes sense as he is the one running the show and Kevin or Shaun is his husband popping in from time to time just to visit his husband. I would also guess Holt decided to give up his powers for the heist because otherwise what's the point of challenging a bunch of humans, and why when Kevin joined, he was so surprised he had been manipulated. It would also explain a lot about Cheddar. And in Parks and Rec Mark was the original architect but since he proved to be unmotivated or creative aka season 1 he was replaced by Ben and Chris who brought up the first major conflict in the show, the government shutdown, and as they said in the show it was the two of them together because they balanced each other out, as Ben did enjoy hurting people with reality checks, and Chris's toxic positivity left people unprepared. But Ben did fall for a human which was against the rules but decided to join them to work through his issues and redeem himself so he could be with her. This could also be why it was important for him to put others in positions of power like Gary as mayor and Leslie as Govenor. And if Chris is a demon as well the first round of dating Ann was just to mess with her but over the series he actually does fall for her, but she earned her spot in the good place early and he can't go with her until he learns actual empathy instead of the toxic positivity he was used to spreading.

SPOILERS FOR GOOD PLACE SEASON 4 This was frighteningly accurate. But I have to add something. Anyway for the other shows Tahani or someone could’ve taken that over to the other neighborhoods for real once it was not to torture but improve. Could the film crew just really be a film crew to show people that there really is a way to redeem themselves. As if they are showing it to people stuck in Purgatory aka Earth. Or all the fans/us watching to prevent us from making their mistakes. So a bad place is never needed for us.
@richardsloan65679 ай бұрын
Each neighborhood is engineered specifically for the people being redeemed so why would it be hard to explain that in at least two neighborhoods the engineer created a scenario where the back drop of being filmed for a reality show was just part of the redemption arc for the people being tested.

This actually makes sense after the finale of the good place. SPOILERS: The test to get in the good place was switched to certain real life conflicts, much like the shows The Office, Brooklyn 99, and Parks and Recreation. It would make sense that those 3 shows were all tests of the characters, and some of the actors switching from show to show could be explained by how the demons now run the test and pretend to be people in these scenarios.

Now that the last season of The Good Place is out, there's another connection in one of the last episodes. At one point Tahani is shown learning carpentry, and she is showing off her finished chair to Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson from Parks & Rec). My first assumption was that the character was just Nick himself since in real life he is also an expert carpenter, but now after hearing about the connected universes it could definitely have been Ron instead. They never mention his name, so unless I missed that part it could be either one

Other shows that fit this theory: 30 Rock, The Mindy Project, Angie Tribeca, and The unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt -Kelly failed in The Office's "neighborhood", thus was rebooted and as Mindy. Episodes like "Hot Mess Time Machine" and "Mindy Lahiri Is a White Man" support this theory. -Kenneth is the architect of the 30 Rock universe. There are hints throughout to his supernatural powers and being immortal. -Angie Tribeca is part of Brooklyn 99. -Kimmy Schmidt was a rebooted part of the 30 Rock neighborhood. Honestly, you can fit most sitcoms in this theory: Friends, Seinfeld, Cheers/Frasier. (They built a "new" Micheal suit).

I think it makes more sense that rashida is an immortal, playing a role and manipulating the story. I think that about most of the crossover actors. If Jason Mantzoukas was in the office, I would say that Dereks became the new Janets, and that’s why he’s in most of them.

A lot of prolific directors use a "shared universe", meaning that they repeatedly use the world fiction they've created, rather than needing to go through the tedious and unnecessary task of creating world fiction for each show. So when a writer comes up with a fictitious automobile manufacturer for one show, and then they have another show that needs a scene on a car lot...guess which auto maker they'll use? Using the same actor in more than one project is directing 101. George Lucas used Harrison Ford in American Graffiti, Star Wars, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. That doesn't link those franchises, it means they worked well together. I see this theory pop up all too often as a way of adding intrigue to the humdrum world of producing shows and movies.

Makes a claim that everyone is dead and proceeds to recite the various rules of story telling which by the way is exactly what the good place plays with. Those area Character Arcs and I can find evidence in same shows and their format that disproves your theory. These are episodic tv shows and hence have a conflict and a character arc. The good place has basically made that concept f conflict and character arc and made it the story. so this theory works as a theory and is only reinforced because the god place has made everything the rules of the world, which makes theory become self fullfilling. I dont know if that made sense. but its just a theory.
@bigben39224 жыл бұрын
I think it makes a lot of sense to say that the crossover actors, could be looked at as the demons in the first season of The Good Place. Think about it, although our main characters are just 4 humans, there are still 300 other neighbors living with them. In season 2 Michael even says to Vicky (one of the demons) “you have a great arc in 80 years where you kill chidi’s cat” who’s to say that Karen from the office, and Ann from parks and Rec, couldn’t be played by the same angel or demon. Like an afterlife version of the actor Rashida Jones

One very great one.. connecting to Brooklyn 99.. here it goes.. 'Holt always talks without showing emotions on his face and in his tone.' 'Shawn(played by Kevin's actor) in the good place goes in a goo when emotions are shown around him. And since holt loves Kevin, he made that thing(emotionless talking) his whole life.. (Maybe just like Michael, Shawn chose to experience human life)

Ok mine is Parks and rec (more emotional than the office with better laughs, nearly the perfect show) B99 (most talented actors and amazingly written written characters) The good place (it pains me putting this so far back, best written characters of every show and probably tied with b99 for best plotline) Office (relies too heavily on the same jokes and characters while not doing much development, not great plotlines compared to all the others, can't get the balance between cringe and not cringe right, and Jim and Pam omg their relationship makes me want to stab myself with a pen)

the cross over actors make even more sense after the good place finale. demons played roles in the new afterlife tests-which could be modeled any way including distorted versions of real lives that people lived-so whenever we saw an actor in more than one show they were just a demon playing a new role. also, derek's not a demon but i love the idea that derek had his beginning in the good place and showed up in increasingly more advanced forms in different schurverse shows. would make sense, he kept getting rebooted.
