My homepark (Särkänniemi in Finland) has one of these! On slow days we used to back-to-back Troika rides to see how many we could go before getting sick -- it's got a bit of a heft when you're rotating upwards at the highest position of the arms. It could really use better theming and refurbishment, though, it's very clean and well-maintained but looks quite retro compared to even the other older flat rides.

My home park Särkänniemi has an original Huss Troika. It's also the oldest ride still in operation in the park!

@@SchwarzkopfFanboy Glad to hear it, after the Bayern Kurve I was hoping that would come soon. Will there be a chance of flying bobs making it in for being so similar or is there just too much to cover with Musik Express/Matterhorn/Himalaya on their own? Although with how popular they are and how many companies make them I wouldn't be surprised if there's too much ground to cover, hell there's even a kiddie ride version "Mini Himalaya" which was pretty popular when I was younger (probably still are tbh just not on my radar)

Ooooooo 1001 Nacht (based on name alone) sounds like 1001 Night. It's a two row seating structure connected to an arm that lifts the ride in a circle. It's one of my favorite flat rides.

I don't think I've ever been on a Troika in my life, though I have had a few rides on a Scorpion (including one memorable occasion where the two spinning motions were in the same direction). As Dorney Park is not far from my house (roughly an hour's drive), I have a new reason to want to visit … once the park opens, of course.

Awesome video on Troikas. Had hoped this would include the weird iteration of Darien Lake’s Troika from 1981 - 1983 called Thrillbilly (pretty sure it was Huss). It was a cross of a large Scrambler & Troika with seats fitting 3 across. I haven’t been able to find pictures & have never seen anything resembling it since

Troika (Triple Play at Six Flags Great America) is my all time favorite flat ride. Very relaxing with a little bit of thrill. Its my go-to for starting the day!

Super appreciate the fact that you're experimenting! So don't take this too harshly, I do mean this as constructive criticism. a) the on site commentary of the ride adds a ton b) the natural issues of talking over a flat ride full of screaming people detracts just as much, lol c) I'd honestly suggest having your on-site commentary (where possible) in person. then providing voice over for the main bulk of the vid. Regardless, great info content. ^^ Would be curious to see you cover the Flying Aces model

I have never seen such a unique flat ride before! It’s really satisfying to watch and cool that you recorded some of your information with gpte and in front of the ride yourself. Also, are you able to to a flat ride of the week on fireball/superloop rides? That would be awesome!

We’ve got a travelling scorpion in Australia ! It’s super fast! Also the carriages become so tilted you almost feel like you’re going upside down. I really enjoy this ride !

I think a traveling company called James E Strates Shows had a Tri-Star or something similar here in the US. I seem to remember riding something like that when they came to the Central Florida Fair in the late 1980’s or early 1990’s.

A visually stunning ride! Now defunct AstroWorld in Houston, TX. Got theirs in 1981. It was already about 7 yrs. old. Ran through 2005 when the park closed. Originally called Warp 10 in the International Plaza. Later moved to Plaza De Fiesta & renamed Warp 2000. Later moved to Six Flags over Texas (sadly damaged) Borrowed one from Six Flags Great America. I always though that 7 car per cross so ODD. Why not 8?

There used to be a troika at Dreamland in Margate during the 80’s. We always thought it was a boring ride when we were kids. It’s the sort of ride you could take your mum on. They just needed to go a little bit higher and a little bit faster!
