In 1990, when I was stationed in Korea, we all shared our VHS movies with each other. Having seen just about everything, I asked a buddy if he had anything I had not seen. He said that he had a new tape called Headcleaner. I thought that it sounded like sci fi so I said sure. He handed me a VHS head cleaning cassette. We shared a pretty good laugh over that.

I knew once the little girl showed up... little girls are super creepy for some reason and always used in successful horror films. When she asked if he listened / heard, etc.. and to take a listen... I knew she was the twist. Then you start getting information as to what it will be, and then the reveal. A little too overt for my liking. I would've rather her to have been less 'daddy listen' 'daddy have you heard'... etc.. and just said something along the lines of 'here's what you wanted, I hope it is up to your standards' or 'Your recording came and I did what you wanted but I'm not sure about it, can you take a look at let me know?'.. something referenced once rather than multiple times would've been much better and less telling earlier on. So many movies get this wrong and it is super obvious right away who the killer is, or who the bad person is supposed to be, etc.. etc.. etc.. It makes things difficult to watch. This wasn't terrible, but it could've been better.

All science is based on science. Knowledge is based on knowledge. What Mengele did was evil, but it did produce knowledge that can't be morally replicated. As it was unique, so much today is based on it. We're just entering a period where the kinds of things Mengele did can be replicated in simulation. Its not immoral if no one is being hurt. Its interesting to think of what that will lead to.

Forgot the genre for a second, thought I was watching a short of a cute old man, sampling nature sounds. Bringing woodland creatures back to life as you do, lol. Things that added to my increasing terror: 1. The reanimated(???!) and perpetually tortured donor body 2. The realization that the daughter was infected 3. KZbin 4. The realization that the sound engineer who digitized the reel to reel is probably infected and probably made copies 5. Everything anti-life and beauty captured by man Great short!

Mass shooting back to back and always large crowds involved so it can be witnessed and recorded immediately. Crazy truth, sound is for sure being highly weaponized. The whole resurrection , moving a decapitated head around and massive reprogramming to be super aggressive might be far fetched. Granted, I'm 100% sure that sound can be used to make people become aggressive...at least to some extent. Music does that sort of thing. I could potentially see that just some heavily remixed sounds from torture doing it...maybe. Btw, stunning sound AND sound that does other stuff is frequently used by police now days. I experienced it first hand a few years ago during a protest. There was a cop car with a huge speaker array that was putting out off-putting sound that was utterly nerve wracking. It made you NOT want to be any where that you can hear it...and the sound traveled for BLOCKS. It physically hurt to be near it. (But, it was easy for me to overcome.. but I'm more in control of my reactions to stimuli then most people. ) There's even now hand held devices that will apparently knock someone out for a couple seconds with sound. The point is to disrupt the persons motor functions, they fall to the ground and the cops or whomever jumps on them and restrains them. Cop car sirens also use a semi-stunning technology. Did ya notice how much louder and strident they got in the last few years? It was a well researched and experimented thing. They picked something that stuns you a bit and puts you on edge and also disarms your potential to be threatening to them. As for people using sound to market to people; uh yes. All the time. It's one of the major reasons why I can't listen to music any more. I realized just how much music is used to program us.. it's quite disgusting actually. A prime example of music being used to program us is the pairing of upbeat instrumentation with sad/depressing lyrics. It creates this horrible connotative dissonance that makes us confused and vulnerable. Then guess what? ............Next thing you know, you get a commercial saying that buying X, Y or Z will solve all your problems. Or, you're at a bar with that music and you end up drinking more then you know you should. Btw, I'd say the VAST majority of popular music is like this these days. Dance music is the WORSE culprit of it. (And I mean popular music of ALL genres. Most people say they just "ignore" the lyrics. But, it's only their conscious minds ignoring the lyrics. Their sub-conscious is paying attention to them and processing them as well as processing the upbeat music. It knows whats going on but is not able to stop it. Honestly, I'd say that just consciously ignoring the lyrics and the cognitive dissonance makes us MORE likely to be subject to it because our sub-conscious is HIGHLY programmable. By consciously ignoring what's happening, I feel that our sub-conscious is getting the message that it's totally ok and that it should just got along with it.

Thanks for the comment! What about if you flip that thinking? We were really only going for an intelligent zombie film. Where you know exactly how the infection happened, exactly why, as opposed to a dystopian vision where you never really know. So in some ways the story is about all the stuff before the inevitable conventional horror ending. The short is a calling card for an existing feature film script that we already have. We wanted it to feel like a flavour of the actual film as opposed to something that felt like a trailer - in as much that we didn’t feel we could strip any scenes from the short as losing them detracted from showing how well fleshed out the world of the feature idea is - believe that we tried!. If it shows ‘potential’ then that’s absolutely fantastic as we’re hoping the short helps to leverage conversations with gatekeepers about our ideas of showing the full world on a long form canvas! Thanks for watching!

I’d love to see this as a series. Maybe change the ending slightly so the world isn’t already screwed in the pilot, then build out the story of George as a dark but benevolent hero. Later discovering the results of the continued evil work by the scientists and having to combat it with his audio library and skills that he’s spent many years developing....that would be awesome. A somewhat deeper look into the magic behind the audio too... like the Fibonacci series put into audio frequencies too low and high for humans to hear melded with the sounds George recorded to make them “Effective Sounds”

A telepath can insinuate a non-audio 'seemingly-auditory-impression' of any sound at any volume: ie the brown-note, a whale's-penetrative-sonar, the sound of DMT ushering away conciousness, the sound one recons with during exsanguination, anything; any acoustic one can survive (from the perception of those who are dying) can be re-encountered in replay by a telepath in attendance of that moment. I read her page... she passed what she heard to her subscribers.... but it happens in advertising too, when some companies figured out that, red, green, and yellow induces hunger on a subconscious level... the battle for control is unfathomable and the very control some seek, will never have it... as been said before, you can be a leader or a follower, it still doesn't mean you are in control... I could watch this in a theater!!!...

I’d really like to know how the parakeet scene was done. Very high quality stuff here for free which is crazy!

All the animal scenes had trained animal handlers. Amazingly the handler could put the budgie in a trancelike state by rubbing its belly and placing it on its back. We could then freeze frame the bird (so it didn’t look like it was breathing ) and when we wanted it to start breathing, unfreeze frame it so it looked like it started breathing. For the wide shot the bird was on thin plastic wire attached to a bracelet on its ankle - this meant the handler could retrieve the bird but also comfort it to make sure it was not in distress. We had to paint out the wire which was pretty time consuming. In fact for the fox, we also needed to paint out wires so it could be close to a handler for its comfort. We took a lot of precautions with the welfare of the animals. Thanks for asking, glad you appreciated these scenes as on top of all the other ambitious scenes they were definitely a challenge :)

It took a while to film that scene as the budgie had to remain still and all cast and crew were in its power for a while.

Channel 4 used to have a series called utopia, this reminded me a little of it, it was pretty chilling but very good they should have kept it going.

Wasn’t aware of it, thanks for pointing out. But given it’s based on a novel/screenplay by Stephen King that’s quite an honour .
