Summary (tips) 1. Meal eating order: first non starchy vegetables, then protein and fat, last carbs, starchy vegetables and sugars (desert) 2. One tablespoon of vinager (apple cider, white wine, rice...) diluted in a tall glass of water, up to 30min before a meal 3. Have a savory breakfast (best mix of protein, healthy fat, fibre) 4. Use your muscles for at least 10min after a meal (a walk, cleaning the house, walking up the stairs, dancing, squats...) 5. Never eat a carb or desert on an empty stomach, leave it for the end of a well balanced meal and/or drink 1 tablespoon of diluted vinager in water before eating it and/or use your muscles for at least 10min after you've ate it. 6. No naked carbs/sugars, put some clothes on them - pair it with some protein, healthy fat and/or fibre ( e.g. chocolate cake with some greek yogurt, piece of sourdough with some avocado or butter, rice with some eggs or salmon or greens, cookie with 10 raw almonds...) 7. Eat whole fruits, no juices (even if it's mixeds with some vegetables) 8. Avoid dried fruits, oat milk, coconut water, rice cakes (treat them all as a dessert) 9. Well balanced smoothies (PHFF) with no fruits or very little fruit (best berries) 10. Better choices: Sourdough over white bread, steel cut oats over oatmeal, starchy vegetables over white bread/pasta... 11. Grapes, pinapple, banana - higher fructose levels, always put clothes on them or eat as dessert 12. Eat more healthy fats - avocados, avocado oil, olive oil, fish... 13. Stress and poor/lack of sleep spikes glucose levels and the body's ability to properly function 14. If you wake up tired, eat savory breakfast, 10min high intensity workout shortly after you wake up, then coffee or just skip coffee, to feel better and reset your body *PHFF - protein, healthy fat, fibre

I love these suggestions & was familiar with some of them. The one thing I always object to is the notion that we can stop aging. We age. We are nature. There’s no way for the leaves to stay on the trees, avoid autumn & not die. Aging & death are part of life. I am 61. I smoked for a score. I lived in a sunshine climate for 22 years. I take no pharmaceuticals. I have been learning these hacks over my lifetime as a yogi & a wellness coach. I had a relatively easy menopause journey. I’m not overweight. I walk 3-5 km/day, practice yoga every day, have 1 drink almost every night. Look after yourself & enjoy your life. Learn to pay attention to your practices mindfully so you can stay in charge. You are worth it. 🙏🏻💕💃🥂

Last night I eat veg+salad first ( dressed the Italian way, olive oil balsamic salt pepper), then small portion of red bean soup with beef ( organic) pieces, 1 small glass of red, to finish home made ball of sweet potato coated in grated coconut. I mesured my blood sugar level. Hugely surprised to see no glucose spike. It’s a first. Haven’t sorted the breakfast yet as it spiked yesterday and this morning. I will avoid certain foods to see what triggers the spike. Thanks very much, this is life saving advice

I got a heavy metals test, and found out I had high lead and cadmium in my blood! :0( Narrowed it down to chocolate after a friend told me they saw on the news about lead in chocolate. Now there is all kinds of info about it on-line and consumer reports. I never thought I'd EVER stop chocolate, but there's like 217% in one chocolate bar and I was only eating .5 oz. each night... I agree with the order of eating if you’re concern of the glucose absorption plus the taking of acetic acid (best vinegar to take - apple cider vinegar). I will add also if you want to lower your cholesterol take lemon water (with lukewarm water) every morning. I learned this in my Public Health Nutrition and Food Molecular science course during my MPH degree. Absolutely right, sugar is the culprit of metabolic diseases.

I’m a Type2 diabetic and eating a salad before a meal makes a huge difference to my BS levels. My diabetes doesn’t allow me to indulge a dessert afterwards. Her hacks are not for ppl like me who have hyperinsulemia & diabetes. Fruit or any sweets will increase my BS regardless if I “dress” a carb. Her counsel is mostly for those that absolutely cannot be without carbs & starches, so it’s just a work-around. Not recommended for ppl like me. The continuous glucose monitor is essential to know how foods affect ppl. In my case, zero starches & super low carbs is necessary. This is great counsel for my adult kids.

I find Jessie fascinating and I've recently bought and read her book. Much of it makes sense, and plan to try some of the hacks. The exercise, in particular. Bu, I am in confusion over the "stacking." I totally understand the principle, but I very rarely eat a meal that consists simply of veg-protein-fat-starches-sugars that I can "stack," easily. Most of what I eat is "mixed" and can't be "stacked." For example, dinner might consist of a "Kiev," chicken coated with breadcrumbs, veg and potatoes, followed by dessert/fruit. Or, more likely, a casserole/stew/one pot dish, consisting of meat/chicken/sausage with plenty of veg and pulses in a sauce, or a chickpea/veg curry with Nan bread/rice and yoghurt on the side, followed by fruit/dessert. Does this count, if I eat it altogether as "putting clothes" on the carbs. Also, much talk of "Greek Yoghurt," the full fat version, is not readily available, but I've been making my own with full fat milk for years, so I assume that's fine? I also assume that eating a dessert with double/heavy cream counts as "putting clothes" on the carbs? Any advice, gratefully received. Cheers 😉😉

I went to the ER with my first ever panic attack on a sunny, happy morning with my friends. I woke up with panic attacks in the middle of the night for a week, had tachycardia and palpitations. It took two months, 7 doctors, and a last ditch effort to find a source to realize it was related to my blood sugar and cortisol. I'm disciplined about detoxing, eating "super" foods, and avoiding toxins, so it was a shock to myself and my family that I had blood sugar issues. I've worked with a naturopathic doctor since then and am getting to the root cause, and fixing my gut health, but this video was so insightful beginning to end and encouraging. I was so nervous I could never even have honey again, and this has helped me feel like it's just a now problem that has a clear route to healing. Thanks for sharing!

Finally, someone that gets it. You don't hear this message very often. People just endlessly blabbering about keto, eat this and don't eat that. Food ordering is actually more important. Indian ayurveda already talked about this for centuries. Certain food combination should also not be eaten at the same time. Like fruits and meat. Because stomach acids get messed up which increases bloating and irritation, leading to all kinds of problems. Anyone interested in health and longevity should research about "Advanced glycation end product".

The breakfast that always keeps me full until lunch is: sprouted multi whole grain toast covered with lots natural peanut butter, chia seeds, and 1/2 banana cut into slices. Not sure what to do now, change it or keep it... Also, I also eat mostly plants and, after Dr Hyman's comment on muscle mass, I have searched for research on this and found nothing. I would like to know more.

I like her approach. It is much more doable for people who cannot do Mark's restrictive perfectionistic food advice for whatever reason. I can feel him cringe when she says she eats cake. Ha! There is his food police right there! Most people cannot do what he suggests for long usually for time constraints, financial limits, psychological, emotional, or trauma reasons, which takes more money to get the support to heal. If you can do it, don't think that everyone else should be able to as well and be so judgemental, you have no idea what people have learned to do to survive. Most cannot be so restrictive with their food as the wellness gurus suggest. Although most people are concerned with weight gain or weight loss, many have realized how that is not a wise focus. They realized they are suffering from disordered eating and poor body image fueled by media and industry, which in itself is traumatic to our natural selves. We are not machines and industry treats us as such and expects us to perform like them. So if you are tired of trying to eat like Mark and other health through diets coaches suggest, it seems much more doable to do what this woman is proposing. Plus, this whole health issue has gotten so myopic for us. It is concerning these people who don't seem to take into consideration how expensive it is to try to eat healthy all the time, all the meat and veggies can be very cost prohibitive. They also seem to suggest we should be eating a mainly meat and veggie diet which is not right for everyone. Plus all the time it takes to cook all this stuff when you are just trying to get by with a few jobs. I am wondering who actually succeeds with this advice and what their income level and time availability are to do this stuff. Not saying it is impossible to improve but I am speaking for those of us with lower incomes, less time and trauma who have a pattern of disordered eating and poor body image, no thanks to commercializing our bodies and lives by modern industry. Again, what she is proposing seems a little more doable for many people and I applaud her efforts.

None of what you said here, in your lengthy diatribe, is Dr. Hyman’s fault. He is merely the messenger of what is the BEST way to eat. Do what you can do, but don’t blame him if you can’t! I live on low SSI and live in my car….but I follow his advice. I make it work.

Ninety percent of the issue is changing one’s attitude. We hate giving up our addictions. No one has to buy expensive items from a health food store -there are many options at the market. Simplicity is key. A few changes to start, like buying more vegetables to mix with whatever protein (that’s why our ancestors invented stew😋), and -most importantly- stop wasting money on processed junk loaded with sugar/inflammatory oils/refined starches. It’s not food. Also, anyone can incorporate time/restricted eating into their current diets. (Give the body a rest from flooding it with glucose all day long.) And it’s free. Btw, eggs are an excellent source of protein and fats, and more economical than most meat.

Dear Mark, i love your work literally, i mean the way you own the subjectyou talk to and how you get all those supposedlly hard info about science and human healt. across i just wanted to clarify one thing about that Jessie said. she said that she had dinner for breakfast with leftover foods from dinner the night before. Now Mark, as you probablly know too, every single item food or object as humans and animals have a significant and unique bio energy which they contain. for example, apple can stay fresh and vibrant as long as it stays on its pit on the tree but once you take that apple off, it starts to degenerate or pale. same thing is valid for cooked food... food must be consumed within 2 hours after it was cooked to get the benefits. after a long time of not consuming that food and reheating it will eventually and gradually hurt all systems inside you.. thats why, you shouldnt crack the nut of a walnut if you wont eat it soon, for example

I Love Scientist Jessie, once found her, addictive to hear podcasts. At my age, she is essential to me. So sorry for the accident she had at a young age 😔 Hard to express my feelings as a mother here. But now our metabolism will be better off & will be thanking Jessie. Love her first thought she was an artist etc. Jessie speaks about the microbiome etc. Also like to learn more about OMAD and the time of eating time for 50 plus or more people, according to our circadian system. Do we still need an early Cortisol B/ fast but "protein base only" says another chemist😅 before our main meal again Another Chemist Lady thinks lunch until 3 pm even 2 pm is best to finish the dinner? Then enjoy your tight blue jean by finishing your meal early, like 2 pm or even 1 pm 🙄 if you are trying to get in your fave dress for a party😅 Are you agree with this type of living style? Is it Ok with you? I finish eating around 3 pm or 3.30 if I'm eating a nice cake in a pretty Cafe. plant base & protein mix with some stir fry veggies &quinoa. Whereas I lived French-style meals with white sauce etc most of my life🍷 If a veggie won't go into the oven with a white sauce with plenty of cheese on it then that meal won't count for me😅 So back to OMAD, London summer nights are long, the sun sets around 10.15 pm in summer 😅😅😅 so Lots of love from London. I always follow Valuable Dr Mark Hyman a big fan of his this is how I discovered you💕💕 God Bless🙏🙏
