When watering your plants, tip the pot 45 degrees to drain in order to remove the excess water retained in the bottom layer. This will help prevent overwatering and this is most important in the winter.

I recommend using a brand called Fish Sh!t. My local plant store recommended it to me and I have to say it is AWESOME. I’m seeing fantastic growth with my houseplants since I started using it and it seems more convenient than liquid dirt. You just use a drop in a gallon of water. The Fish Sh!t itself smells but once you dilute it in the gallon it has no smell whatsoever. Triple checked with various house members🤓🌱🍄

Ran over here after I roasted mine on my south side of my house. I'm so used to my light-hogging pothos and syngonium plants that I shocked the poor guy! It's so helpful to hear you even keep yours in a north window, meaning I don't need to be panicked about moving him back a good bit across the room. I forget how far light travels! I know this is an older video, but the tips are still appreciated

Agree my plants were up next to a west window and they were always curled and hated it but now they are about 8 feet back and they are growing super fast especially with the higher humidity and the leaves on my exotica are getting massive with all the humidity 🥰

I love Scindapsus! Especially Exotica. Mine is under a purple grow light that most of my plants don't care for and give me puny winter leaves. Not lady Exotica. She grows slower in this situation but puts out consistently beautiful leaves. My best to you and your family...love hearing that baby in the background.

Scindapsus are my favorite genus right now. I do find, tho, that they all have different care. I did a stupid and put 4 varieties of Scindapsus in a big plant box and they all behave differently. My exotica is so hearty and forgiving. The Silvery Ann and Argyerus are thirstier and more delicate. I probably should have planted just the Jade Satin with the Exotica since they’re so tough. My Treubii, moonlight and dark, are just so so special. Great video!

Scindapsus is my favorite genus! I now have four varieties and have been working on rooting exotica, which I finally got some of the cuttings to do in a Leca prop box. I’m super happy to hear it really does like low light. I’ve seen my Silvery Ann needs more light to maintain the silver. Jade Satin is top of my wishlist and I’m also happy to hear this is an easier care (at least for you!) plant I can’t get enough of dark, velvety sheen foliage!!!

Thanks Harli! Were you going to include a link to your prop box video? I'm very interested to hear that you can get new plants from nodes without leaves. Should I wait until spring to try a project like that? I heard that propagation works best in spring or summer. We live in Seattle and keep the apartment about 65 degrees in the winter. Now I need to declutter to make more room for plants! Love your scindapsis collection.

18:03 Love the US Jade Satin! We have some jade satins in the Philippines but they are way smaller than the US Jade. I have both the Philippine Jade Satin and the Philippine Dark Satin. Both produce small leaves and I find them very hard to propagate. They have woody stems that hate being cut. I should have done the bobby pin method instead of chopping them. You have the perfect specimen of a US Jade Satin!

My exotica is about four feet from an east-facing window (so bright indirect light). We try to keep the humidity at or above 50%, and I water when a few leaves look like they're going to curl -- soil is always dry when I do. It's doing fine, looks beautiful, I named her Jolene. But she isn't really growing that fast. I've only had her since the summer.

20 mins on scindapsus is OK by me. I am fascinated by this plant. It is so beautiful in 100 different ways. Some with borders of silver and everything shimmers. In Australia, silvery anne, moonlight, jade, silver lady are collectors' items at ridiculous prices. I'll have to do without. In fact, scindapus is not always easy to find for sale, though it will appear at certain times of year. My best performer is silver splash with vines to the floor. I think I have a few very different looking plants of s. splash - so interesting to compare them. Argyreus also does well, but grows more slowly. Exotica is hard to find, but I did find a few in a local (huge) nursery at a good price. I find it a slow grower and the leaves get progressively smaller. I covet yours. . I have never had any probs with these plants. Like you said, I just wait for the leaves to droop. Water propagation has been touch and go for me. I can get it to root, but it often droops/dies when transitioning to soil.
@laciemorse0910 Жыл бұрын
Hey Harli! I absolutely love your channel and I had a question about the exotica. I have one and I am trying hard not to kill it and I had a question. When do you know when to repot your plant and with repotting it, did you do a 7 or 8in pot if you have it in a 6in pot? I think I have to repot it because some leaves are coming in yellow and I have it about 10ft from a south window.
