Scion TC led swap

leds: PLCC2 3.5mm x 2.8mm
If changing to blue, white, or green leds you also need one 471 (labeled R157 on the circuit board) and five 331 (labeled R151, R152, R153, R154, R155) resistors. I am NOT sure what happens if you mix blues and reds together, but the same power that will power a blue will blow out a red. Removing these resistors is easier if you use desoldering braid to remove as much solder as you can. Resistors have no polarity.

You just saved me a lot of time, the 3v pack is just what I'm going to use, toda I noticed some issues and it was the blue leds, now I know. Thanks so much.

nah, you can install the LED's w/o the resistors it won't burn out or anything. Resistors only depend on the different colors your using. if you want to change it to white, blue, green, or pink, you need resistors otherwise it's gonna be really dim. if you want red, no need to change the resistors.

The way you are desoldering the LED's is very dangerous. The reason its dangerous is because if you apply too much pressure while pulling up the first leg of the LED it might rip the other trace off the board. Then you wont be able to have a working LED in that spot. Usually I get a copper wire and bend it into a "C" shape and heat it up while it touches both traces. Then you can simply lift the whole LED off the board without risk of damaging the traces.

How was de-soldering the LCD on the HVAC? I'm about to do that and I'm kinda worried because I read a lot of people have trouble.

i don't know for sure, but i wouldn't do it because the leds might just burn out

how could you tell which leds are for the numbers and the lines on your gauge? numbers being the speed your going and lines that surrounds the numbers.

Hello I switch my leds to purple or neon color, some of the leds work and some are not. I tested then and they are ok....should I switch the resistors as well? And do I need to replace the voltage regulator for a 10v one too?
