not sure about the sponsors this week. I'm really not a fan of companies that don't pay their workforce fairly. doordash doesn't tell you that they pay drivers below the poverty line and leave their ability to pay their bills up to customer generosity. But drivers are also contractors that are expected to absorb the expenses of making your delivery. But maybe worse, they also use deceptive tricks to get drivers to accept orders for less money. There's no transparency to drivers or customers about this. to be fair to DD, that is probably true of all the other services as well.

Unfortunately I have both a low physical tolerance for dust (I touch something dusty and I break out in hives) and a low tolerance for dusting (because it is itchy and I have ADHD and clutter). So I basically can't touch a lot of surfaces in my house because they're dusty, but my brain and my skin won't allow me to remove the dust.

I witnessed a very weird tradition some years ago when I was working as a verger in a San Francisco cathedral. Apparently, head vergers in various cathedrals had this thing about mailing each other the "firch" from their cathedrals - dust bunnies. I learned this when our head verger received some once, & I guess he put it with other samples he'd been sent before. I'd say I hope the tradition has ended, but in a way, I don't. It's just so weird, it's probably worth continuing?

My husband once said that it was weird how our bathroom always stayed so much cleaner than our (two dudes in college) friends bathroom did. He realized his mistake when I whirled with my jaw on the floor. He had apparently been assuming we were just like… cleaner living than our friends, even with our two dogs. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I will NEVER stop teasing him about it, and he admits that he does deserve it for the number of years he went just assuming it was magically clean.

the irony of me listening to this while i avoid vacuuming is not lost on me. and i should go get my new favorite headphones which are bone conduction headphones! that don't go in or over my ears so i can hear everything around me (very helpful for being outside not to have direct auditory muffling, also helpful for me because indoors using noise cancellation or reduction headphones i cannot hear fuckall around me and lose control of my vocal volume and general awareness which is inconvenient for both myself and the people & animals around me. can't say they're perfect for everyone but they are great headphones, like $140 which is pretty comparable to most airpod and over-ear fancy headphones. they use a similar technology to several kinds of hearing aids! which is neat. it's kinda you hear the sounds all clear inside your head through vibration but you're not plugging or covering your ear with anything so the rest of the world doesn't disappear from your hearing when you use them, but they can still be louder than the world in a way. i'm not sponsored by big bone conduction i just really enjoy them, and am still avoiding cleaning by writing this

Brits do indeed call their vacuum cleaners "Hoovers" which is a popular brand name that gained pop culture dominance, but more interestingly it has recently been superseded by a new dominant brand name and consequently they often call them a "Dyson" now. In my youth in New Zealand, the vacuum brand name Electrolux was popular, so vacuuming was commonly called "Luxing".

Speaking of sucking popcorn off you hand, has anyone tried the vacuum popper? We need to find out the lowest temperature that corn will pop in a vacuum. Moreover, we need to find the highest temperature that corn will pop under pressure. Then we need a controlled taste test to determine what conditions produce the best popcorn. I find it extremely unlikely that the best popcorn can be produced under standard conditions😂
