For me, this is THE coaster that comes to mind when you say "Classic Looping Coaster". Also, I´m a huge fan of super compact layouts. It just tickles my brain to see how much track they managed to put into that small footprint.

My first Schwarzkopf looper. I thought the loop was intense, but it was over too quickly, and the helix at the end was equally as enjoyable in my opinion (especially with that head chopper).

Pretty fun, but really janky. When I rode it, I had to wait and extra 5 or so minutes because the train did not align correctly with the station and lift hill, which kind of freaked me out. I really like how forceful the loop is. Because it was my first Schwarzkopf, I wasn't expecting the loop to make me lunge forward. I think this is a great first looping coaster for kids.
@CanobieCoaster10 ай бұрын
I haven't seen that happen.
@cooperhickman69444 ай бұрын
I have ridden silver bullet at Frontier City which was the looping star model mentioned in the video, and I will say that this happens from time to time. Due to the chain lift extending all the way to the back of the station and the fact that the lift motor can't reverse, if the train goes too far forward in the station, it can't be simply reversed like other coasters, so it has to do another cycle in order for the operator to realign. It's not something to be necessarily concerned about, it just means that the ride operator likely didn't brake hard enough to stop the train in time.

I’m genuinely sad they’re removing this ride, it’s probably reached its end of service life, but this was an awesome ride. It had great pacing and great forces, I preferred it to sheikra because of the pacing and sustained g force. I’ll miss scorpion definitely, and can only hope they get a worthy replacement

It's a fun ride and provides some nice variety compared to the more modern coasters at the park. I'll hop on if I see that I can get on the next train out. It's not uncommon for me to see it like that on school days, at least one of the times that I'm passing by it.

You say Scorpion is not themed. I think I disagree. The ground under the coaster is filled with sand, evoking the impression of a dessert which is where you might find scorpions living. I rode this several years ago. I forget the year, but Shiekra was the big new coaster and Jungala had already replaced Python. We also rode Rhino Rally with the river section working. I found Scorpion very intense and very smooth. A coaster with a similar layout and intensity was Lazer at Dorney Park, but that one had two loops. We had an installation of the looping star model at AstroWorld called Viper. I rode that many times. It was also very smooth but not as intense as Scorpion or Lazer. Next to Viper for a few seasons stood Texas Tornado (formerly the legendary Thriller from Germany.) Another intense Schwarzkopf. I loved how the portable Thriller towered over the "permanently" installed Viper. My other Schwarzkopf credits are: Shock Wave; Mind Bender; Revolution; Sooper Dooper Looper; Greezed Lightnin'; and Montezooma's Revenge. None of them were even close to being rough. I got to see Big Bend in person many times but the year I finally decided to take a ride... we arrived at the park to find it gone.

Canobie Coaster would say: In terms of pacing, this coaster is pretty good as there isn't much dead space on this ride. Then in terms of smoothness, this ride has aged gracefully. You may get some light side-to-side shuffling on the directional changes, but the whole ride mostly tracks well. This is inline with a lot of other Schwarzkopfs. They aged... A) worse than the competitions looping coasters at the time. B) similarly to the competitions looping coasters at the time. C) better than the competitions looping coasters at the time.

Next time you ride it try not pulling the lap-bar "or try not letting the ride operators pushing it down all the way" and you'll see and feel that you are STAPLED in that loop the whole time. The way that loop is designed is almost a full circle opposed to any other manufacturers design. And not too many other coasters have a triple helix. Just sayin'. Hope everyone is having an awesome day!
