My heritage comes from Scotland, I’m proud to say !! My dream is to visit someday. My great, great great and further back grandfather was William Trent who came from Inverness to America I believe it was in the mid 1600’s. He was a judge, in the parliament, had a city named after him which is now Trenton, New Jersey. It was originally Trents Town. He achieved so much more. There’s a book in the library about him and the city. What makes me the most proud is being from Scotland, even though I’ve never been there. Such beauty and you know for certain that the people as a whole are genuine and kind, something which is getting hard to find here in the states.

I can echo all that you say about being a descendant from Scotland. I feel proud. But I can't quite figure where the links are directly like you have. I was adopted and it is the DNA research that has pointed me there. I am just tickled that there was a blind fiddler way long ago...because I was a professional violinist!

We went in Sept 18. With a Trafalgar tour group. 47 on board a bus. They booked hotels.. most meals . Lots of castles and Outlander sites. Actually called Outlander tours by Trafalgar. I know they are doing them in 2019 book early. Sells out fast. From Ontario Canada about $5000 canadian dollars. Well worth it!

My gggg grandfather was born in a castle in Scotland. I think it was Graten or something similar, he was arrested and tried in England as a Jacobite rebel and sentenced to hang, later given the option to go to the "New World" He did, landed in Williamsburg, VA H lived in what was once the Christmas apple house adjacent to the Capitol. Anyway, I love watching videos because I'll never get to go.

The scenes being filmed in these bits from Outlander was Angus, Willie, Murtagh, Claire and Rupert's rescue of Jamie from Wentworth Prison and BlackJack's clutches. I'm wondering if Sam was naked under that tartan? Okay mind, quit it.

I can hardly believe that so much of this history is no longer taught in Scottish schools. I am part Scottish but all American and this wasn't taught to us either, so it is a real joy to have the opportunity to learn a lot about this time period in such a remarkable work. When I was doing my genealogy, I found I had a mutation that specifically started with Robert the Bruce - mind you, my family background isn't high-born so it was the wrong side of the blanket - but still.

I've now been to Scotland 4 times, I've included it every time I've traveled overseas. Seeing the roads I've driven along several times just gives you an 'awe' moment. I've done two driving holidays now in a campervan and both times have stopped overnight in the carpark at Kyleakin. Last trip I had a travel bud and when we heard live music coming from the Haakon Bar we decided to go investigate. We told ourselves we'd have one pint then back to the van to cook dinner, 4 pints each later and closing hour, chuckle, we finally staggered back to van and proceeded to cook some chicken and stir fry veggies because you can't get a kebab in Kyleakin, chuckle. It's an Aussie thing after a booze up. Great vid and I'm an Outlander fan.

June Murray Hi. why do they say "Gallic" in "Outlander" rather than "Gaelic" (gay lick)??? "Gallic" refers to France/French things surely?
@SohailJafar19 жыл бұрын
+Kathryn Gaul no it's the right pronouncement in Scotland and it's Scotland's language.
@TheKathrynGaul9 жыл бұрын
Well, I'm so darned glad that the Irish have enough sense to pronounce it correctly as Gaelic, not Gallic. And the Gaelic language was brought from Ireland to Scotland about the 5th century AD. "Gallic" does refer to France and the French as in "a gallic shrug".
@macbrns14387 жыл бұрын
the Scottish pronunciation of gaelic is gallic
