What an amazing place, I'm sure it would have looked stunning inside back in the day.

@scotlandonashoestring that would be interesting. Hope you're keeping safe & warm up there. Weather looks mental over there at the mo!

Beautiful, grand old building! Such a tragedy it's fallen into ruin now. I hope it gets preserved somehow! Thank you!

I think it’s down to money and local politics. The owner wants it demolished but Historic Scotland won’t let that happen so it’s a bit of a stand off.

It’s an amazing place. Lots more to find in that wee part of Fife we think.

I'd say most if not all the lumber is over 100 years old. Quite a grand building in it's time.

Ooh, very probably. The place was remodelled in the late 1800s so I’d guess it dates back to then. Some really nice pieces there.

There’s a fella in France (Dan Preston) who is renovating an old chateau 😁 it burnt down a long time ago 😁 your priory made me think of him 😁

The Pryory was beautiful but so much walking. DeNiro stayed home with Bex I assume. My favourite greyhound. Thank you Ian.
@scotlandonashoestring7 күн бұрын
Yeah, he was safe at home. Never sure about these explores if they’ll be greyhound friendly.

Very interesting history. I looked on the OS map and noticed another tower called Scotstarvit Tower which is free to visit but not open until spring. Thanks for showing the snowdrops they seem very early.

Scotstarvit Tower is amazing!! It’s in one of our older episodes and you can just pitch up and wander around, there’s not a soul there.

If you ever go back, there is a dovecote that still standing on the property as well. There's a video by a couple, their channel name is Scottish Mudlarking. It's in their video if you want to get an idea of where it is and what it looks like. The first building you passed, where you heard the dogs and saw the apartments, used to be the stables. You can tell by the way the courtyard is set up.

There are a few other buildings remaining. I visited them (including the Doocot), you’ll see them in a future episode :) Next week I’m looking a a few places where the family made their money. Thanks for watching!

That priory really is incredible, now and back in its early days. The mausoleum would have been elegant and with a view. Out of curiosity I followed your link to the video from 10 years ago. Very, very sad that Lady Mary’s Mausoleum was vandalized, including the coffins. I seem to say this often now but why do people do things like that?
@scotlandonashoestring7 күн бұрын
I can’t imagine. I also can’t imagine why the bodies would be left there after the wall was breached.

I've been to Crawford Priory many times. I think it's beautiful and such a shame it's now in a terrible state.
@scotlandonashoestring7 күн бұрын
It is. They’ll have to do something with it one way or another
