Is there anyone whom he doesn’t offend, including me? Absolutely - brilliant 👍
@hansiesma165 жыл бұрын
I don't find any of it offensive. I'm seeing an obsessive requirement in the Comedy Unleashed audience that it must be offensive in order to be funny. I would have been interested to watch the response to him using the Manchester Arena bombing as part of his act, or Hillsborough, or the Lee Rigsby murder and wonder how funny his offensiveness would have been perceived in those instances? Grenfell didn't offend me; though it was tasteless but he's largely playing to an audience with quite specific requirements.

Thank God for comedians. I think they're gonna save us from the P.C. gestapo.

Unfortunately, that gestapo has their own comedians to push out as "real comedy."
@styvieagget45804 жыл бұрын
Christian Vaclavic They will fail. Comedy, like music, isn’t learnt, it’s visceral. Trying to quieten the canary in the coal mine seems a bad idea right?
@christianvaclavic95744 жыл бұрын
@@styvieagget4580 It doesn't matter if they'll inevitably fail or not, they're still doing it. They've pushed "right wing" (politically incorrect, essentially) comedians into a separate sphere, same for other forms of entertainment and media. Some have been outright banned (still) from performing at certain venues and, of course, universities. Obviously, it's a bad idea to quiet the canary in the coal mine, but there are people who want all of our current ideals to die like those miners would. And, while I'm glad to see a resurgence and pushback from comedians and other artists, you can hardly claim they're "winning" anything. They're gaining some ground, but until the wool is pulled completely from the eyes of the moderately reasonable SJWs and the average, ignorant person, I fear there will always be a cap on what we who cherish free speech can accomplish. Whether that's 40% or 60% of the population, I can't say. The issue is that these ideologues are so pervasive in every form of media, tech, government, and education, and engaged in rampant nepotism to remain so, that politically incorrect voices continue to be silenced for various asinine reasons. And, as someone who is very plugged into this "culture war," don't fool yourself that we're winning. We aren't even at a tie, yet. Two steps forward, three steps back...every time. It doesn't matter if it's visceral, they have their gestapo in every medium.
@styvieagget45804 жыл бұрын
Christian Vaclavic This is a fantastic reply, thankyou! I think I come across blasé in this topic because I approach it in the same way as I do with people who say ‘modern music is bland’; I agree, the predominant narrative and pushed agenda is bland, and has actually always been so, but anyone with even a slight incentive to dig will find the underbelly that do it for the artistic expression, or even for the commercialization of the artistic expression. Can our current perceptions be a representation or mobilization of specific demographics perhaps?

Your tempo and meter, never allowing enough time to dwell on personal attachment to the current car crash before the next. The self incrimination, offering up every nuance of personal vulnerability as a waiting space for the return of fire. Its been a long time since I have been this immersed and impressed by the layering in a set. So charmingly offering glances of how each bit has formed and the true essence of feeling that has equipped it. Thank you Scott. for a few moments tonight I was trapped in that decadent place between horror and joy deep within myself where through your humor I was able to see the world around me a little more clearly.
